Job Description The Knolls Weight Handling Unit is seeking a highly motivated and safety-focused Accident Prevention & Training Specialist who will play a critical role in strengthening the organization's accident-prevention culture and ensuring personnel are properly trained, qualified, and prepared to execute weight-handling work safely. This role directly supports the development, delivery, and improvement of local weight-handling training, hazard recognition practices, and programmatic prevention measures aligned with P-307 requirements. Key Responsibilities Administer and track completion of required weight-handling training curricula and provide supplemental, site-specific training as needed. Participate in interactive pre-job briefings for weight handling evolutions to reinforce hazard awareness, proper work controls, and safe execution. Support and enhance accident-prevention initiatives, including trend analysis, near-miss investigation support, and corrective-action follow-through. Maintain awareness of changing OSHA, NNL, and corporate requirements related to weight handling. Partner closely with Weight Handling Engineers, the Weight Handling Community, and other sites to ensure proper oversight, documentation accuracy, and continuous program improvement. Assist with verification and inspection readiness of training records, and qualification documents. Provide coaching to operators and supervisors to reinforce safe behaviors and adherence to applicable expectations and requirements. Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 11 years of relevant experience; or Associates degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; or Journeymans Papers in a related field and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; or Qualification as a Naval Nuclear Propulsion Operator (or commercial nuclear equivalent) and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; or Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience. Preferred Skills Experience in weight handling, industrial safety, or related technical discipline. Strong communication skills and ability to deliver structured training. Demonstrated ability to identify hazards, analyze accidents/near misses, and recommend preventive actions. Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, operations, and safety organizations. Prior involvement with NNL weight-handling organizations. Familiarity with weight handling equipment such as cranes, chain hoists, and rigging gear. Experience conducting observations, surveillances, or lift-plan reviews. Pay Range $86,100.00 - $134,600.00 annually Salary information provided is a general guideline only.
