Outpatient Internal Medicine Physician

Outpatient Primary Care ProviderThe Outpatient Primary Care Provider will deliver comprehensive medical care in a full-time walk-in clinic setting at the IHS facility in Cass Lake, Minnesota. The provider will evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with a wide range of acute and chronic conditions. The clinic operates with two providers seeing an average combined volume of 12 patients per day, ensuring a manageable workload and collaborative clinical environment.This role supports IHS's mission to raise the physical, mental, social, and spiritual health of American Indian and Alaska Native populations to the highest level.Work Schedule & Patient Volume:Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PMClinic Type: Outpatient Walk-InAverage Patient Volume: 20–30 patients per day total - Shared between two providersKey Responsibilities:Provide direct outpatient medical care to walk-in patients of all agesPerform medical histories, physical exams, assessments, and diagnosesTreat acute illnesses, manage chronic conditions, and provide follow-up careOrder and interpret diagnostic tests, labs, and imagingPrescribe medications in accordance with federal, state, and IHS guidelinesDocument all patient encounters accurately in the electronic health record (EHR)Collaborate with nursing staff, behavioral health, pharmacy, and specialty servicesProvide patient education, preventive care guidance, and referrals as appropriateComply with all IHS policies, federal regulations, and clinical protocolsMaintain professional standards, cultural sensitivity, and patient confidentialityRequired Qualifications:Education: MD or DO from an accredited medical school OR Nurse Practitioner (NP) / Physician Assistant (PA) from an accredited programLicensure: Current, unrestricted license in any U.S. state, territory, or D.C. Must be eligible for licensure in MinnesotaExperience: Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in outpatient, primary care, or urgent/walk-in care settings preferred Experience in rural, tribal, or underserved communities strongly preferredCertifications: Current BLS (required) ACLS (preferred) DEA registration (or eligibility to obtain)
