Job Description

The Asbestos Supervisor leads asbestos abatement and environmental remediation projects across the Bay Area and Northern California. This hands-on field leadership role oversees project execution, manages field crews, ensures strict regulatory compliance, conducts air sampling and monitoring, and supports project estimating and bidding activities. The position requires deep experience in asbestos abatement operations, strong crew leadership capabilities, and a thorough understanding of OSHA, EPA, Cal/OSHA, and related California regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct asbestos abatement and environmental remediation crews on active job sites throughout Northern California.

• Ensure all work is performed safely and in full compliance with OSHA, EPA, Cal/OSHA, and other applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

• Conduct air sampling and air monitoring activities in accordance with project specifications and regulatory standards.

• Prepare and maintain accurate documentation of air sampling and monitoring results, ensuring proper recordkeeping and reporting.

• Coordinate daily field operations, including workforce scheduling, crew assignments, and equipment utilization to meet project timelines and budgets.

• Perform regular site inspections to verify adherence to project scopes, safety plans, and quality standards.

• Maintain accurate project documentation, including reports, manifests, logs, and regulatory compliance records.

• Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders to provide updates and address project needs.

• Train, mentor, and develop field personnel on best practices, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements related to asbestos abatement and environmental remediation.

• Support project estimating and bid preparation activities, including site walks, quantity takeoffs, and scope reviews.

• Assist in the development of work plans, safety plans, and project-specific procedures for asbestos abatement and environmental remediation projects.

• Respond to varying project demands across Northern California, including adjusting to changing schedules and priorities.

• Travel to multiple project sites, including occasional overnight stays, based on project location and schedule requirements.

• Promote a strong safety culture by enforcing safe work practices, conducting safety discussions in the field, and addressing unsafe conditions promptly.

• Collaborate with environmental professionals and project teams to ensure successful project execution and client satisfaction.

Essential Skills

• California Asbestos Contractor/Supervisor Certification.

• 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification.

• At least 5+ years of experience in asbestos abatement or environmental remediation.

• Proven experience supervising and leading field crews in asbestos abatement or environmental remediation settings.

• Hands-on experience conducting air sampling and air monitoring activities.

• Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, Cal/OSHA, and related regulatory requirements governing asbestos and hazardous materials work.

• Demonstrated ability to manage field operations, including scheduling, crew coordination, and equipment utilization.

• Experience maintaining project documentation, reports, manifests, and compliance records.

• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel throughout Northern California, including occasional overnight stays.

• Ability to wear respiratory protection and other required personal protective equipment for extended periods.

• Strong communication skills for interacting with project managers, clients, regulatory agencies, and field personnel.

• Ability to perform site inspections and ensure adherence to project scopes, safety plans, and quality standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with project estimating, bidding, and proposal support.

• OSHA 30 Certification.

• Industrial Hygiene experience or experience.

• CSST (Certified Site Surveillance Technician) certification.

• CAC (Certified Asbestos Consultant) experience.

• Additional environmental remediation experience involving hazardous materials or lead abatement.

• Construction and estimating experience in environmental or related projects.

• Experience working within highly regulated environments such as national laboratories, research campuses, or government facilities.

• Ability to mentor and develop field personnel in best practices and safety procedures.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documentation and compliance activities.

Work Environment

Work is primarily performed at active environmental remediation and asbestos abatement sites across Northern California, including industrial plants, commercial buildings, government facilities, research campuses, laboratories, and occupied facilities undergoing environmental cleanup. Many projects are located at highly regulated government and research environments, requiring strict adherence to security and safety protocols. The role involves regular field presence, direct oversight of remediation crews, frequent site inspections, and ongoing interaction with clients and project stakeholders. Conditions may include construction zones, remediation sites, and other areas where hazardous materials are present. The position requires consistent use of respiratory protection and other personal protective equipment for extended periods. Travel throughout Northern California is a regular part of the job, including occasional overnight stays depending on project location and schedule.

This is a Permanent position based out of Martinez, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $99000.00 - $120000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
