Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician

The Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician provides preventative and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of material handling systems with a strong focus on mechanical power transmission, electrical systems, and PLC controls. This role works under minimal supervision, supporting the reliability and performance of hydraulic, pneumatic, and conveyor equipment in a demanding industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on material handling systems, including conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics, and related equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical power transmission and electrical systems, demonstrating proficiency in both areas.
• Diagnose and resolve issues involving PLC controls, including reading PLC logic and burning EEPROMs.
• Interpret electrical and mechanical schematics, manufacturer manuals, and engineering specifications to identify and correct system faults and failures.
• Respond to sort calls and other equipment-related alerts to quickly diagnose problems and perform necessary repairs.
• Utilize CMMS software to accurately enter, update, and retrieve maintenance data and work order information.
• Apply complex diagnostic skills to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and PLC/control failures, escalating issues appropriately when required.
• Collaborate with higher-level technicians on complex control system issues and follow guidance on advanced troubleshooting.
• Assist lower-level technicians by providing support, sharing knowledge, and helping with troubleshooting and repairs.
• Develop scopes of work and project plans for small-scale projects to be executed at the local level.
• Use a digital multimeter to perform resistance tests on de-energized circuits and verify electrical integrity.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose both the power and control branches of motor control circuits to ensure proper operation.
• Read, interpret, and create or modify electrical drawings and schematics to support maintenance and project activities.
• Adhere to all applicable safety standards, attend safety meetings and required trainings, and actively promote a safe work environment.
• Address safety concerns promptly and follow established procedures to reduce risk and improve workplace safety.
• Work a flexible schedule, including all days and shifts as business needs dictate, and reliably cover the assigned shift from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Thursday through Saturday.

Essential Skills

• Demonstrated proficiency in mechanical power transmission maintenance and repair.
• Strong electrical maintenance and troubleshooting skills, including power and control circuits.
• Hands-on experience with PLC troubleshooting and controls, including the ability to read PLC programs and burn EEPROMs.
• Practical knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics in an industrial environment.
• Experience with conveyor maintenance, including diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical issues.
• Ability to interpret and work from electrical and mechanical schematics, manufacturer manuals, and engineering specifications.
• Competence in using a digital multimeter to perform resistance testing on de-energized circuits.
• Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose both the power and control branches of motor control circuits.
• Skill in reading, interpreting, and creating or modifying electrical drawings and schematics.
• Capability to use CMMS software to enter, track, and retrieve maintenance-related data.

Work Environment

This role operates in a non-climate-controlled industrial facility focused on material handling systems. You work primarily on-site around conveyors, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, electrical panels, and PLC-controlled systems. The assigned core shift is from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., Thursday through Saturday, with flexibility required to support business needs on other days or shifts when necessary. The setting is fast-paced and production-oriented, with a strong emphasis on safety procedures, proper use of test equipment such as digital multimeters, and adherence to facility guidelines.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Warner Robins, GA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.15 - $36.15/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
