Job Description Summary The Director of Pharmacy is a licensed pharmacist responsible for planning, organizing, directing and providing safe and appropriate pharmacy services for Option Care patients in the assigned areas and locations, in accordance with policies, professional standards and regulatory entities. The Director coordinates patient services with nursing, delivery and reimbursement departments, manages budgeting, purchasing, control and security of drug products and medical supplies, and assists the Senior Director of Operations in meeting operational and financial goals. Job Responsibilities Determine suitability of patients for home care and supervise monitoring and evaluation of the quality and effectiveness of patient care provided by pharmacy staff. Oversee activities of assigned pharmacies, schedule work activities of pharmacy staff so that pharmaceutical care needs of patients are met. Develop and mentor staff through onboarding, open communication, training and development opportunities and performance management processes. Oversee product purchasing, inventory, budget and equipment management, assist with preparation, approval and implementation of operating and expenditure budgets, and evaluate purchase, management and security of medications, pumps and medical supplies. Provide support to sales professionals and general manager by communicating knowledge of available services, meeting with managed care organizations and other accounts to facilitate education regarding services. Serve as Administrator in Charge with the Nurse Manager in the absence of the Senior Director of Operations; collect and organize patient‑specific information to prevent, detect and resolve medication‑related problems. Monitor clinical staff’s documentation for home care and ATS patients, evaluate competency in use of pharmacokinetic principles and formulas. Coordinate and participate in on‑call responsibilities of the pharmacy department, ensuring reliable coverage. Manage use of investigational drug products in compliance with accreditation, legal, regulatory and safety requirements. Basic Education and Experience Requirements Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy and experience compounding sterile products and managing patient care. Required licensure as a pharmacist by the Board of Pharmacy in each state where assigned pharmacies are located. At least 5 years of pharmacy management experience in a specialty pharmacy or compounding pharmacy setting. At least 5 years of experience directly managing people, including hiring, development, motivation and direction. At least 3 years of experience in indirect management of team members, including study development, training and assignment of work/projects. At least 3 years of experience planning, developing and managing departmental expenses and budgets. Basic Qualifications Experience compounding sterile products and managing patient care. Experience overseeing purchasing and inventory processes of pharmaceutical and related supplies. Reliable transportation with valid driver’s license and proof of insurance. Active membership in a related state or national clinical, pharmaceutical or home health care organization. Experience identifying operational issues and implementing strategies to resolve problems. Experience providing customer service to internal and external customers, meeting quality standards and evaluating customer satisfaction. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience in direct or indirect management of team members, including development, training and assignment of work/projects. Travel Requirements Will travel up to 75% of the time for business purposes, both within and outside the state. Preferred Qualifications & Interests Post‑graduate residency program in clinical pharmacy services. Board certification in Nutrition Support Pharmacy, Pharmacotherapy or other clinical pharmacy practice area. Experience managing inventory and logistics. At least 5 years of experience compounding sterile products and managing complex infusion patients. At least 3 years of experience overseeing purchasing and inventory process of pharmaceutical and related supplies. At least 3 years of experience planning, developing and managing departmental expense and capital budgets. Additional Notes May perform other duties as assigned. Salary determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills and internal equity; Pay Range: $129,386.61 - $215,629.34.
