Always Fishing Inc. is a Hospitality Group based out of the San Francisco Bay Area. The group includes four brands. Culinary Eye Catering and Events is a full production catering company, serving high touch, high design from Napa to San Jose. Spirited Beverage Co. is an experience-forward beverage service that can stand on its own or as a service within our thoughtfully crafted event offerings. Within Spirited Beverage Co sits Bar Car, a bar experience focusing on our vintage Airstream trailers, retrofitted for full bar service. Last but not least is Metal and Match Catering Co. bringing California coastal cuisine to set menus for a wide range of customers.
OUR TEAM: We are a group that works to create a personal relationship with each of our clients. Our collective background consists of chefs, wedding planners, bakers, nonprofit event planners, aspiring professional skateboarders, artists, psychology majors, athletes and all around great personalities. It is from this diverse background that we build each event. The team holds our work to a professional degree, while also giving you the feeling that a trustworthy friend is helping you out. Whether it is a wedding or a complicated tech event, we will be there every step of the way with you!

Role Summary
The Hospitality Manager is the owner of the hourly event workforce at Always Fishing Hospitality Group. This role is responsible for recruiting, onboarding, training, scheduling, and processing payroll for all hourly on-site staff while ensuring labor compliance, payroll accuracy, and consistent execution standards across events.
The Hospitality Manager ensures that every event is properly staffed with trained, reliable team members and that labor costs, payroll, and compliance are executed accurately and on time. This role works closely with the Director of Operations and CEO but holds full accountability for labor execution and workforce readiness.
This is a hands-on leadership role critical to protecting margins, reducing risk, and maintaining a high standard of guest experience.
Core Responsibilities
Hourly Workforce Recruitment & Roster Management
- Recruit, screen, and hire hourly on-site staff (FOH, BOH, bar, event support)
- Own onboarding for all hourly staff, including paperwork, system setup, and role readiness
- Maintain a healthy, up-to-date staffing roster aligned with the event cycle and seasonal demand
- Monitor staff availability, performance, and reliability
- Proactively build bench strength to meet peak event periods
Training & Execution Standards
- Ensure consistent training for all hourly on-site roles
- Maintain clear execution standards for on-site positions (FOH, BOH, bar, support roles)
- Ensure staff are prepared to execute roles accurately and professionally at events
- Address training gaps and performance issues as they arise
- Partner with leadership to maintain Always Fishing’s service and execution standards
Staffing & Event Labor Execution
- Staff all hourly shifts across events and ongoing operations
- Ensure staffing levels align with event scope, forecast, and labor targets
- Validate labor plans prior to events
- Resolve staffing changes and labor issues in real time
- Monitor and control overtime and labor inefficiencies
- Ensure on-site labor compliance (breaks, coverage, shift adherence)
Payroll & Labor Administration
- Execute all payroll for hourly and salaried staff
- Collect, review, and approve timesheets, overtime, and tip distributions
- Ensure payroll is processed accurately and on time each pay period
- Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related employee questions
- Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation
Compliance & HR Administration
- Own execution of labor compliance, including:
- EDD reporting
- Workers’ compensation administration
- Wage & hour compliance (CA labor laws, breaks, OT, sick pay)
- Administer benefits enrollments, changes, and terminations
- Maintain accurate employee records and certifications
- Support onboarding and offboarding from a compliance standpoint
- Proactively identify and escalate compliance risks
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Provide clean, accurate labor and payroll inputs to the Director of Operations
- Support post-event analysis by providing staffing and labor data
- Escalate repeat staffing, training, or compliance issues proactively
- Align closely with leadership on staffing needs and labor expectations
Compensation & Benefits
Base Salary:
$80,000 – $95,000 annually, depending on experience
++ Performance Bonus
