QUALIFICATIONS

1. High School Diploma or GED
2. Valid Paraprofessional Certificate
3. Effective communication skills, oral and written
4. Good interpersonal skills

The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above qualifications. REPORTS TO: Principal and/or other authorized administrators WORK YEAR: 190 Days JOB GOAL: Supervision of assigned students and assistance in the facilitation of the instructional program as directed. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the Lanier County Board of Education EVALUATION: This position will be evaluated annually by the supervising Principal.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

General Responsibilities Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance. Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in the use of internet, email, and other computer applications as applicable to job responsibilities. Demonstrates appropriate verbal and written communication skills. Complies with school, system, state, and federal regulations and policies, including the PSC Code of Ethics for Educators, as related to job requirements. Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information and material; adheres to chain of command. Acts in a professional manner and maintains a professional attitude towards the public and colleagues. Maintains a professional appearance as appropriate for job responsibilities. Maintains and improves knowledge and skills to promote proficiency in the operations of an organized, modern, updated, and efficient school. Participates in professional organizations and staff development activities and applies what is learned to the job. Monitors compliance with policies and laws concerning area of responsibility. Shows initiative and assumes responsibility for all aspects of job responsibilities and performs routine duties and tasks with little or no direct supervision. Participates with other system personnel in planning and decision-making meetings. Communicates vision and mission to school personnel as appropriate. Enhances the climate of the building and the morale of colleagues. Essential Responsibilities Provides adequate supervision of students at all times. Physically able to lift a student of 40 lbs. without assistance, perform a two person lift for students on 60 lbs. and stamina to perform essential duties. Assists with toileting needs of students with disabilities, if needed. Disciplines students with fairness and equity. Conducts small group and individual instruction according to supervising teacher’s lesson plans. Assists in student assessment, grading assignments, and data collection. Assists in routine record keeping. Prepares instructional materials according to supervising teacher’s lesson plans. Locates, procures, operates, and returns needed equipment. Assists in routine classroom responsibilities. Assists in ordering and inventorying classroom equipment, materials, and supplies.
