Completes population specific competency annually on populations served as identified in scope of care and services.Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe CT Technologist is expected to practice safe procedures and adheres to radiation safety measures under the supervision of the Radiology supervisor or the Radiologist. Specific duties may include but are not limited to:Accurately interpret a physician's scanning instructionsAdminister contrast materialPrepare and operate CT scan equipmentAbility to position patient to capture appropriate imagesSend images to Radiologist for interpretation/readingCleans and disinfects scanner and exam roomsFollow infection control and safety guidelinesEssential FunctionsThe Computed Tomography Technologist must demonstrate an understanding of human cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology and medical terminology.The Computed Tomography Technologist must maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and exposure techniques.Computed Tomography Technologists are the primary liaison between patients and radiologists and other members of the support team.Computed Tomography Technologists use professional and ethical judgment and critical thinking when performing their duties.Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.Skilled in the operation of CT scan equipmentAttention to detailBasic understanding of computer technologyPerform all duties using proper body mechanics.Frequently move/lift between 50-100 pounds, depending on assignment requirementsStand for long periods with frequent squatting, twisting, bending, kneeling and reaching to prepare equipment, materials or objects in order to provide patient care or maintain the patient environmentManual dexterity and fine motor coordinationAbility to work in a stressful environmentAbility to follow directions/instructions from his/her supervisor.Consistent attendance is required to assure that department needs, and patient needs are met.To comply with Hospital policies, procedures and practicesWorking ConditionsThe CT Technologist must understand and accept the possibility of exposure to inside environmental conditions, such as radiation, noise, infectious/communicable diseases, blood and blood borne diseases.Work Environment and HazardsOSHA Category IPhysical DemandsMedium work: standing, walking, stooping, bending, reaching, pulling and lifting as per detail above.Pay Range$39.45-59.20Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates.
