Stadium & Events Operations Intern - Fall 2026

Job Description Summary Sporting Kansas City’s Stadium and Event Operations Intern holds a temporary position within the company, emphasizing educational training and practical experience in a professional sports organization. The internship runs from August25th to December11th. Responsibilities Learn how professional sports venues operate by collaborating with the Operations Team at Sporting Park and experiencing as many aspects of operations as possible. Understand the operational logistics and execution of special events such as corporate meetings, weddings, holiday parties, special sporting events (e.g., college football, U.S. Soccer, rugby, soccer clinics), large and small‑scale concerts, and any other applicable event. Learn and participate in the organizational philosophy of a pristine stadium for all events. Understand the logistics and execution of special, non‑stadium events (not at Sporting Park), such as corporate meetings at Three Points, events at the training facility, etc. Assist stadium management during game‑day preparations, coordinate sponsorship activation on Sporting Plaza, ensure correct signage is placed around the stadium, and set up premium spaces at appropriate times. Attend department meetings to learn about the processes used to organize an event. Assist with game‑day operations such as coordinating giveaways, ball kids, the Walk of Champions, Flag Kids, etc. Take lead on special projects designated by the event operations manager, including inventory of game‑day staff equipment, responsibility for sponsor activation items stored at the stadium, creation of plaza maps and diagrams, and updating spreadsheets. Represent Sporting Kansas City and its affiliates in a professional manner at all times. Perform other related tasks as assigned. Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives, and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities. Passionate about professional sports (preferably soccer) and stadium and event operations. Positive attitude. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong work ethic. Excellent leadership skills. Skills and Experience Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree (completion of freshman year at a four‑year accredited institution or enrollment in an accredited graduate program, and ability to provide proof of receiving credit for the internship toward the completion of a degree). Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Interest and experience in competitive sports preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Calendar). Physical Abilities The position requires sitting, standing, walking, frequent stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing; use of hands and arms for tasks such as feeling objects, tools, or controls; talk and hearing consistently; distinguish objects visually; work normal office hours as well as non‑traditional hours for events and game days, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
