Senior Software Engineer

Huxley is working with a Chicago-based trading technology startup that's hiring a Senior Software Engineer to help build and scale the systems that power trading, market data, clearing, and post-trade workflows. This is a hands-on role for a strong Java engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, building scalable systems, and contributing to projects from design through production. You'll be working on high-performance backend services that support real-time market data, exchange integrations, regulatory workflows, and trade processing. What they're looking for: 4+ years of backend engineering experience Strong Java and Spring Boot experience Experience with APIs, distributed systems, messaging/event-driven architectures, and SQL Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions Trading, fintech, market data, or other high-throughput systems experience is a plus Experience with FIX, exchange connectivity, clearing, or risk systems is helpful but not required Ability to work onsite in Chicago's Loop 2-3 days per week or be fully remote The team values engineers who are curious, collaborative, and eager to take ownership of their work. They're looking for someone who can navigate complex technical challenges, contribute to architectural discussions, and help deliver reliable, scalable solutions.
