Sr. Manager, Indirect Procurement

The Senior Manager – Capital & Indirect Procurement is responsible for leading sourcing, negotiation, and supplier management for capital projects, construction, engineering services, and select plant-related indirect categories across CH Guenther’s North American operations. The Senior Manager is a builder of work streams, processes, and capabilities Vs. the operator of a function.This hands-on leader serves as the primary Procurement partner to Engineering, Operations, and Project Management teams, ensuring capital investments and plant-related spend deliver optimal value across cost, quality, reliability, and timeline.The position will also leverage CHG’s group purchasing organization (GPO) partners for applicable indirect categories, while owning sourcing strategy, MSA development, and execution for complex, high-value, or non-GPO spend areas.This is a highly cross-functional, hands-on role requiring strong commercial acumen, technical understanding, and the ability to influence stakeholders across a diverse manufacturing environment.Duties and Responsibilities:Capital Projects & Engineering Procurement (Primary Focus)Lead sourcing, negotiation, and contracting for capital equipment, construction, and engineering services across manufacturing sitesPartner with Engineering and Project Management teams to support capital planning and executionEvaluate supplier proposals, technical specifications, and statements of work to ensure best total value (cost, schedule, quality, risk)Manage supplier selection, contract execution, and performance throughout project lifecycleMitigate risk related to scope changes, timelines, and supplier performanceGenerate and execute master service agreements that optimize the Company’s interestsPlant Services & Strategic Indirect ProcurementLead sourcing and supplier management for select plant-related categories (e.g., maintenance services, specialized MRO, pallets, and operational services)Identify and execute cost savings and value improvement opportunities across assigned categoriesPursue independent sourcing strategies where appropriateGPO Strategy & Spend GovernanceWork with GPO partners to leverage pre-negotiated agreements where aligned to CHG needsDrive adoption and compliance of GPO contracts across manufacturing sitesIdentify gaps where GPO solutions are not optimal and lead alternative sourcing initiativesMonitor off-contract spend and implement actions to reduce leakageSupplier Relationship ManagementEstablish and manage strategic supplier relationships across capital and key indirect categoriesDefine and track supplier performance metrics (KPIs) including cost, service, quality, and deliveryDrive continuous improvement, innovation, and cost reduction initiatives with suppliersProcurement Excellence & Analytics:Serve as a trusted advisor to Engineering, Operations, and Plant Leadership teamsLead sourcing events (RFI/RFP/RFQ) for complex categories and projectsConduct market analysis, supplier benchmarking, and cost modeling to support negotiationsTrack and report realized savings and value deliveryEnsure compliance with procurement policies, processes, and risk management standardsPerforms all other duties as assigned.Minimum Job Requirements:Education/Certifications and Experience:Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree desirable5-15 yrs experience in procurement or related fieldStrong background in construction and equipment procurementKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and other business software used for data analysis (SAP).Broad understanding of capital equipment and construction industryContract law knowledge, with the ability to analyze statements of work, engineering drawings and specificationsStrong negotiation skills with large purchases and complex technical specificationsCapable of independently managing multiple priorities, projects, and tasksExcellent interpersonal, customer service, and problem solving skillsSelf-starter with proven track record of implementing/executing complex projectsAnalytical skills and creative thinkingSupervisory Responsibilities:N/AWorking Conditions and Physical Effort:Primarily operates in a professional office environment with standard business equipment and technology.Requires extended periods of sitting and working at a computer.Occasionally required to lift and move materials weighing up to 15 pounds.Expectations:Will demonstrate, promote, and exemplify the Company’s Core Values.At C.H. The salary range for this role is:$95,938.00 - $178,010.00Actual compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, as well as geographic location.C.H.
