Job Title Elementary Grades Band Teacher Job Details Position: Elementary Grades K-5. Location: Primarily Remote. Hours: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Responsibilities Implements instructional strategies that stimulate learning and increase student engagement. Creates instructional resources to meet the varying needs of students. Takes ownership of students' academic progress and attendance, communicating high expectations and showing active interest in their achievement. Prepares students for high‑stakes standardized tests. Analyzes student data to prescribe remediation and enrichment as needed. Participates in data analysis meetings to monitor student growth. Is open and available for coaching by administrators and instructional coaches. Adapts course content according to prescribed policies and procedures using appropriate asynchronous and synchronous tools. Submits grades and required student work, ensuring academic honesty and integrity. Collaborates with parents and colleagues to manage course goals, curriculum, and materials that enhance the learning experience. Actively participates in professional learning communities or professional development. Hosts live synchronous sessions that promote a positive learning environment. Establishes and maintains positive rapport with families and regularly communicates with students and learning coaches/parents. Understands how diverse characteristics of students and their families impact required support. Works collaboratively with other teachers to ensure all students progress through the program, parents have a central point of contact, and tasks are distributed among stakeholders. Responds to students, parents, and colleagues in a timely manner. Organizes social and educational activities for students and families, including virtual clubs, outings, marketing events, or other extracurricular activities as required. Travels to testing sites to proctor state exams. Participates in committees as required. Student success will be measured by valid and reliable assessment data, parent and student satisfaction, and continued institutional growth within the academic community. Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities. Qualifications Bachelor's degree AND Six (6) months of student teaching experience Meet requirements for Highly Qualified Teacher (HQT) Equivalent combination of education and experience Certificates and Licenses GAPSC Required Content Area Certification Clearance Certificate issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission Other Requirements Pedagogical knowledge and ability to apply critical thinking. Knowledge of state content standards and ability to align them with the chosen curriculum, academic supplements, and reinforcement supports. Extensive knowledge of foundational skills for reading and writing to build literacy. Extensive knowledge of developmental progressions for reading, writing, speaking, listening, and language standards. Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes. Problem‑solving ability, high organization, and independence. Strong technology skills and rapid learning of new teaching platforms. Understanding of interdependency of deadlines on multiple projects. Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week. Maintain teacher certification and professional development hours. Effective communication with school personnel, parents, students, and staff under confidentiality requirements. Inspire teachers and staff to meet improvement initiatives and goals. Professional attitude toward school personnel and parents. Efficient paperwork management and record keeping. General computer knowledge, operating systems, and peripheral devices. Experience using internet search engines for research projects. Desire to learn new technology skills and platforms. Initiative and multitasking ability. Positive interactions with teachers, administrators, and support staff. Knowledge of the school improvement process. Advocate for virtual learning and belief in the Academy's mission. Knowledge of state and federal laws related to K‑12 education. Knowledge of GaDOE CCRPI. Proficiency with computer‑based software and online resources to develop training materials. Ability to read and interpret student data and educational reports. Familiarity with online learning environments. Experience with diverse student populations. Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, OneNote, and G‑Suite. Management of competing priorities and deadlines. Strong critical thinking, planning, and writing skills. Independent and collaborative work in a team. Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and courtesy. Excellent organization skills and system building. Excellent presentation and public‑speaking skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong work ethic and self‑motivation. Flexibility and adaptive approach for student outcomes. Outstanding attention to detail. Professional home office during 8 am ‑ 4 pm workday. Consistent high‑speed internet access. Valid driver’s license and private transportation. Availability to travel up to 25% of the time. Desired Qualifications Advanced degree in Education or related field. Leadership degree, endorsement, or additional certification. Gifted, Special Education, and/or ESOL certifications. APSI certification. Proficient/advanced data analysis skills. Google certifications. Experience with NWEA MAP, Illuminate DnA, WriteScore, FLVS Global, Edgenuity, Discovery Education, Bright Thinker, Writable, NEWSELA, Legends of Learning, Education Galaxy, Learning A‑Z, MindPlay, USA Test Prep, IXL, BrainPOP, Edmentum Exact Path, Moby Max, iReady, Classworks, Nearpod, and others. Working knowledge of Securly. Proficient/advanced experience with Infinite Campus (SIS). Proficient/advanced use of Canvas (LMS). Knowledge of Jigsaw Interactive (live classroom tool). Proficient/advanced use of Zoom conferencing tool. Three (3) years of virtual educational environment experience. Previous experience as a Learning Facilitator, Advisor, or Teacher at the Academy. Previous experience as an online educator. Previous experience with online educational tools, curriculum, and assessments. Physical Abilities & Working Conditions Work schedule: Monday‑Friday, 8 am‑4 pm, 5 days/week, primarily remote. In‑person attendance required for professional development, training, conferences, meetings, and testing sites several times per year. Vision: able to read small print and view a computer screen for prolonged periods. Hearing: able to answer telephones and tolerate noisy environments. Speech: clear, understandable in face‑to‑face or virtual communications. Upper Body Mobility: use hands/fingers, manipulate objects, reach, lift, turn, and lower head. Strength: lift, push, pull, or carry objects weighing 5 lb. or more on a frequent basis. Environmental: encounter work interruptions, work independently, work indoors. Mental: read, write, understand, interpret, and apply information at a moderately complex level; math skills at high‑school proficiency; judgment and rapid information processing; verbal instruction; prioritize tasks; compare and coordinate records.
