EHS SpecialistJM Huber is seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to support the Attapulgite Division of Active Minerals International. This position is based in Quincy, FL and Climax, GA. The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist is responsible for leading all environmental, health, safety, industrial hygiene, and regulatory compliance programs for Quincy, FL and Climax, GA Attapulgite Operations. The role provides oversight of MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) compliance, OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), environmental permitting (air, stormwater, and wastewater compliance programs), industrial hygiene monitoring, training programs, DOT programs, contractor safety, emergency preparedness, Federal, State, local and internal regulatory reporting. 5-year vesting schedulePrincipal Duties & ResponsibilitiesCollaboration & EngagementInfluences site leaders and employees through visible leadership and effective communicationDrives a culture focused on accountability, employee engagement, risk reduction, and environmental stewardshipWorks closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, maintenance, and management, to integrate EHS principles into daily operationsCollaborates with other site EHS Specialists and the Regional EHS Director to align site-specific initiatives with overall organizational goalsReviews EHS dashboards, incidents, and action items with site leadership and employees to identify trends and areas to improve and drive changeCollaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering to understand plant and mining processes, as well as equipment operationBuild relationships and rapport with site employees and leadership through engagement, follow-through, and consistent communicationSafety and Environmental ComplianceImplements and evaluates corporate EHS programs, policies, and proceduresEnsures compliance with local, state, and federal environmental, health, and safety regulationsAudits the organization's facilities, equipment, procedures, training, and recordkeeping to identify areas of improvementParticipates in agency regulatory inspections and/or responds to agency correspondenceAdheres to all QMS procedures and documentation as applicable to position and department, and as required by ISOCollaborate with regulatory agencies and third-party organizations to maintain a thorough understanding of applicable regulationsPerforms industrial hygiene and environmental sampling and monitoring to ensure compliance with governmental regulations and best practices for both safety and environmental regulationsCollects and analyzes samples for employee exposure monitoring and environmental complianceImplements compliance tasks; maintains tracking of actions and compliance responsibilitiesFacilitate and participate in the Change Management process and review operational and capital improvement projects for environmental permitting, safety impacts, and regulatory requirementsAssist with oversight of the DOT program and driver safety managementMonitor lost-time injuries/illnesses and assist with Worker's Compensation ClaimsIncident Response and InvestigationWorks with leadership to conduct accident investigations; determine root causes and recommends corrective actionsDevelops and implements corrective and preventative action plans for audits, incidents, governmental non-compliance, and any other necessary items that should be tracked for completion and effectivenessTraining and EducationOversee EHS training programs and conduct EHS training for all employeesEnsure compliance with MSHA Part 46 and other required regulatory training programs for employees, visitors, and contractorsConducts or coordinates engaging safety meetings for employees on all shifts on a regular basis to share best practices, review incidents, and inform employees of safe work practices and environmental stewardshipStays informed about industry best practices and emerging trends to continually enhance training programs and compliance of the siteSpecialized/Technical Knowledge or Required SkillsAssociate degree in related field preferred3 years of relevant experience, preferably in mining/manufacturingWorking knowledge of MSHA standards and DOTFamiliarity with reference standards (ACGIH / ANSI / NIOSH / NFPA / NEC / OSHA)Strong interpersonal skills; ability to build relationships and facilitate learningPublic speaking and strong communication skillsMust have good comprehension of management systems and risk-based prioritizationProficiency with computer applications and Microsoft productsValid driver's license requiredEHS certifications helpful (CSP, CMSP, ASP, OHST, MSHA Instructor, 30-hour OSHA General Industry, Visual Emissions Evaluator)Physical RequirementsWork is split between an office setting, production environment, and field locations.Limited domestic travel may be required, approximately 20%.Able to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop and climb up to 70 feet.Able to lift, pull, push and carry up to 25 lbs.Manual dexterity required for operation of a computer keyboard.Respirator Fit Test is required at hire; no facial hair can interfere with the seal of the respirator at pre-hire and annual fit test screening.Vision and hearing tests are also required.Total RewardsJ.M. U.S. Market-Based Salary Range EHS Specialist [$65,100.00 - $84,500.00] In addition to base compensation, individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and profit-sharing payout.
