Job Opportunity – Cardiovascular ICU RN – West Virginia

Schedule: 3x12 night shifts (weekdays and weekends); 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio based on acuity; may occasionally float to Medical ICU or Step Down Unit

Highlights:

• 10-bed Cardiac Care Unit specializing in cardiothoracic surgery patients including CABGs, open valve replacements, thoracotomies, and carotid endarterectomies
• Direct fresh open-heart admissions from OR with advanced hemodynamic monitoring including Swan-Ganz management, Impella, and IABP
• 13-week contract with possible extension; flexible blocked schedules available
• Cerner EMR system with 24 hours of orientation provided
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• Care for complex cardiac patients including STEMIs, cardiogenic shock, post-cardiac cath complications, and post-code patients

Requirements:

• Current RN license (West Virginia or Compact state)
• Minimum 2 years of cardiac/cardiovascular ICU nursing experience
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (all must be current through American Heart Association)
• Must have demonstrated experience with ACT (Activated Clotting Time) monitoring
• Proven competency in direct open-heart admissions from OR, cardiac surgery recovery, arterial line and pressure monitoring, Swan-Ganz catheter management, Impella monitoring, and CRRT
• Experience with continuous IV sedation, vasoactive and cardiac drip titration, ventricular assist devices, and post-cardiac surgery care
• Strong skills in dysrhythmia interpretation and management, blood product administration, and care of ventilated patients
• Minimum of 2 manager or charge nurse references from the past 2 years
• Permanent address must be 100+ miles from facility location
