Job Description

The Physical Therapist will be responsible for providing comprehensive evaluations and treatments that enhance patient functional abilities. This role involves overseeing and directing the work of Physical Therapist Assistants and other designated staff members.

Responsibilities

• Conduct general physical therapy evaluations and treatments for a diverse patient population with varying diagnoses and issues.
• Assess patient needs, perform evaluations, identify therapy diagnoses, and create effective treatment plans with achievable goals.
• Implement, supervise, and modify therapy plans based on ongoing assessments of patient responses to ensure optimal outcomes.
• Review clinical records and case histories to inform treatment strategies.
• Participate in care conferences and collaborate with healthcare professionals to address patients' individual needs within the healthcare team framework.
• Coordinate the arrangement of medical equipment and ensure thorough care plans are in place before patient discharge.
• Document patient encounters, findings, treatment plans, recommendations, and prognoses in accordance with organizational policies.
• Deliver timely services in compliance with regulatory requirements across both in-patient and out-patient settings.
• Guide support staff, interns, and students in their roles within the physical therapy department.
• Facilitate a healthcare partnership between providers, patients, and families.
• Create and implement patient education and therapy programs tailored to the needs of patients and/or their families.
• Provide clear home exercise programs, ensuring patients and families understand and can demonstrate exercises for optimal rehabilitation.
• Offer guidance to patients and families on self-care strategies to enhance independence and partnership in healthcare processes.
• Assist with administrative tasks, clinic operations, and specialized areas of research as needed.
• Utilize hospital systems to manage patient information and adhere to directives efficiently.
• Compile summaries of results, statistics, and metrics for management review.
• Assist patients with the acquisition and fitting of durable medical equipment/devices based on their needs.
• Maintain inventory levels and cleanliness within the clinical space.
• Stay updated on billing procedures and reimbursement mechanisms to support service delivery.
• Educate staff and patients on physical therapy-related topics, focusing on functional limitations and recovery goals.
• Engage in department representation and management duties as requested.
• Conduct therapy consultations, presentations, and educational sessions for interdisciplinary health care teams and patient groups.
• Adhere to professional standards set by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and the organization's confidentiality and quality assurance policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Entry-level qualifying master's or doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program, or a graduate from an APTA approved program with a minimum of two years of proven work experience demonstrating knowledge typically covered in a Doctorate program.
• Current licensure as a Physical Therapist is required.
• Basic Life Support certification is mandatory.
• A valid driver's license is required.

Experience

• A minimum of one year of experience in adult outpatient rehabilitation is required.

Shift Information

• Work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
