Authorization Specialist – Medical Practice

Growing medical practice seeking an experienced Authorization Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in obtaining insurance authorizations, verifying benefits, and working within a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Position Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience as an Authorization Specialist in a medical practice or healthcare setting
• Strong knowledge of:
• • Insurance verification
  • Prior authorizations and referrals
  • Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, and workers’ compensation plans
• Experience working with EMR/EHR systems
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Detail-oriented with strong follow-through skills

Responsibilities

• Obtain and track prior authorizations for procedures, imaging, medications, and office visits
• Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits
• Communicate with insurance carriers, physicians, and patients regarding authorization status
• Maintain accurate documentation within the EMR system
• Assist with denial follow-up and appeals when necessary
• Ensure compliance with insurance guidelines and practice protocols
• Assist with front on occasional basis

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Medical terminology knowledge preferred
• Pain management or specialty practice experience is a plus
• Spanish speaking a plus, but not required
