NYC Department of Finance (DOF) is responsible for administering the tax revenue laws of the city fairly, efficiently, and transparently to instill public confidence and encourage compliance while providing exceptional customer service. DOF's Community Affairs division houses the agency's Outreach unit. The Outreach unit is responsible for all public outreach and community engagement. The unit works closely with government, agency, community, and not-for-profit partners to ensure that New Yorkers are able to access valuable tax savings programs administered by the agency. These programs include the Homeowner Exemption and Abatement Programs, (SCHE and DHE) including the Rent Freeze Program, and the Veterans Exemptions. The team also provides support to property owners at our annual Notice of Property Value events held each year after the agency issues its tentative property assessment roll. The Outreach includes a team of liaisons who work to educate the public about DOF services and increase enrollment in programs that save New Yorkers on housing and business expenses. The team hosts training, presentations, enrollment events and facilitates application assistance for programs such as Homeowners Tax Benefits (HTB) and the Rent Freeze Program (SCRIE/DRIE) in all five boroughs of the city. Outreach also offers technical support and mediation with DOF programs and services. Community Affairs is seeking an Outreach Liaison to serve in the Outreach Unit. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Outreach, the selected candidate's duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Provide administrative support, such as case tracking, and responding to inquiries from the community via email.
• Conduct in-person and virtual training sessions on DOF programs such as homeowner exemption and abatement programs, including the Rent Freeze Program.
• Coordinate effective and timely response to constituent casework and resolution (phone, email, and mail) from elected officials and community boards.

Additional Information: In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire. This position may be eligible for remote work up to 2 days per week, pursuant to the Remote Work Pilot Program agreed between the City and the Collective Bargaining Unit representing employees serving in the civil service title. This position will require employees to have access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and is subject to an additional background investigation before appointment. The candidate(s) will be required to pass the FTI background investigation as a term and condition of employment.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualification Requirements 1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or 2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.

- Ability to work productively under pressure to meet productivity goals. - Proficient computer and technical skills including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook. - Ability to learn new computer-based programs quickly. - Show a high-level of responsibility around quality, detail and accuracy. - Excellent written, public speaking and interpersonal skills.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
