About the Organization The New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute delivers care across six divisions, including hospital-level inpatient psychiatric services (civil and forensic), adolescent residential treatment, outpatient behavioral health care, detox and residential substance use treatment, and skilled/long-term care. As the state’s largest behavioral health complex, it provides inpatient/residential care to over 250 clients daily and serves about 400 outpatient clients each month, supported by more than 600 employees. Salary $35.37 - $53.05 hourly ($73,568 - $110,352 annually). Pay Band C10. Responsibilities Provide nursing care to patients in the Adult Psychiatric Division and give direction to direct care staff to align nursing activities with hospital goals. Administer all types of medications, both oral and injectable, to relieve anxiety, control behavior, and treat physical problems. Perform physician‑ordered treatments to ensure patients’ optimal physical and mental well‑being. Customers/Patients Patients, residents, and clients of the Adult Psychiatric Division. Ideal Candidate Experience caring for the mentally ill, providing comprehensive nursing care, and administering all types of medications. Qualifications Licensed as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico (or eligible for licensure) with at least three years’ experience in duties essential to the classification. Employment Requirements Valid driver's license. Defensive driving certificate. Employment in a safety‑sensitive position subject to pre‑employment and random testing, including alcohol and drug testing. Conditional employment pending satisfactory criminal background checks. Completion of HIPAA training. Working Conditions Work in a hospital and office environment with extensive computer and phone use. Expect exposure to mentally and behaviorally challenged residents who may display unpredictable or violent behaviors. The facility is tobacco‑free and e‑cigarette‑free.
