Instrumentation Coordinator - Lead - Offsite Sterile Processing

Scope of Position A Lead Instrumentation Coordinator works to prepare, sterilize, install, assemble, and clean all clinic or healthcare equipment required for surgeries, examinations, and medical procedures. The coordinator ensures that equipment, instruments, and supplies can be reused safely to prevent infections. The role is responsible for ensuring sterilized, appropriately functioning medical supplies and instrumentation are packaged and delivered to the point of use aseptically. The coordinator also serves as a clinical liaison between the Operating Rooms and the CSS offsite location to track and allocate sterilized instrumentation across the Enterprise. Additional duties include tray movement logistics, standardizing instrument trays across the Enterprise, and monitoring the OR schedule to ensure instrumentation is processed and delivered without delay. The position will be utilized 24/7 in multiple reprocessing sites across the Health System, including Ross Heart Hospital, University Hospital, James Cancer Hospital, Same Day Surgery, University Hospital East, and all Ambulatory sites. The coordinator will provide clinical orientation for CCS Technicians and Instrumentation Coordinators in coordination with the CSS Educator, and will educate clinical staff on standards, policies, and procedures and provide feedback as necessary. Position Summary Helps lead the oversight of daily activities between the Operating Room and Sterile Processing Departments to facilitate efficient case flow, through efficient case cart assembly and decontamination, assembly and sterilization/high level disinfection of all reprocessed surgical inventory. The coordinator assists in projects and process improvement, promotes customer service and patient satisfaction through effective communication with Operating Room clinical operations and multiple sterile processing departments across the Medical Center, and organizes instrument trays on a global level to serve the entire Enterprise in a standardized procedural manner. Requirements High School Diploma or GED, CRCST certification, and a minimum of 4 years experience in Sterile processing.
