Petroleum Supply Specialist – Role Overview Fuel is one of the most vital components of the Army National Guard. As a Petroleum Supply Specialist you’ll ensure the proper handling, storage, and shipment of petroleum‑based products such as oil, fuel, and compressed gas. Responsibilities Receive and stock bulk and packaged petroleum products. Issue and dispense bulk fuels and water from distribution facilities to units. Supervise and manage the reception, storage, and shipping of petroleum products. Operate specialized pumping equipment for trucks, ships, trains, and aircraft. Select and submit samples of petroleum products for testing. Perform petroleum and water accounting activities. Test samples for contamination and repair specialized equipment. Enforce facility safety procedures and storage guidelines. Supervise, train, and spot‑check other Soldiers, ensuring adherence to safety procedures. Skill Development Operating airplane refueling systems and equipment. Planning and scheduling petroleum transport. Testing oil and fuels. Interest in shop mechanics and business math. Capacity for physical work. Training Overview After ten weeks of Basic Training, you will attend eleven weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT), which includes a combination of hands‑on and classroom instruction.
