The Psychiatry department consists of three inpatient psychiatric units and an outpatient ECT unit staffed by passionate, knowledgeable healthcare providers. It offers high‑quality care using group activity and music therapies, one‑to‑one care as needed, and an interdisciplinary team in state‑of‑the‑art patient care units. A combined total of 46 inpatient beds exist across intensive, medicine, and geriatric psych units. The psychiatric medicine unit offers a unique opportunity to work in an environment that combines medical and psychiatry. Intensive psych allows the team to work with those who are acutely ill. The geriatric unit is for those with a passion for the elderly population in psychiatry. The team is a well‑rounded group caring for patients with a wide range of psychiatric illnesses. Responsibilities Promotes patient and family‑centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and families on managing their illness or injury, including post‑treatment home care needs and medication administration. Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance. Participates in professional development. Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team, patients, family or caregivers, in accordance with established guidelines and standards. Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care. Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care. Assesses patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population‑specific needs. Maintains constant alertness and works safely as required for this safety‑sensitive position.
