Pharmacy TechnicianThe Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting in all appropriate aspects of the pharmacy's operations. Must be a graduate of an accredited pharmacy technicians training program and certified as a pharmacy technicianExperience: Minimum of two years of experience in a full-time pharmacyCertification(s)/Licensure: Current certification as a pharmacy technician preferred. Immunization certification preferred.Medication Delivery and Transportation Duties - Employees in this position may be required to deliver prescribed medications to patients, RCCHC sites, or partner facilities using an RCCHC fleet vehicle. Deliveries must be conducted in accordance with all applicable state and federal regulations, including HIPAA privacy standards and chain-of-custody requirements for medications. Employees are expected to maintain confidentiality, always ensure safe and secure handling of medications, and adhere to all RCCHC safety and driving policies. Employees assigned delivery duties must:Possess a valid North Carolina driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record as determined by RCCHC's insurance provider.Comply with all fleet vehicle usage policies, including completion of mileage logs and adherence to scheduled maintenance.Immediately report any accidents, traffic violations, or vehicle issues to their supervisor.Refrain from using RCCHC vehicles for personal errands or unauthorized purposes.RCCHC reserves the right to conduct periodic motor vehicle record checks and revoke driving privileges if necessary. Failure to comply with these standards may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.Knowledge:Knowledge and thorough understanding of Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC's) in regard to the Federal 330 Public Health Service ActKnowledge of thorough understanding of the 340B programKnowledge of computer systems and applications.Skills:Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, and discretion.Skill in analyzing situations accurately and taking effective action.Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with the medical and administrative staff, patients and the community.Skill in planning, organizing, and prioritizing work; delegating and achieving goals and objectives.Skill in exercising judgment and discretion in developing, interpreting, and implementing departmental policies and procedures.Skill in identifying and resolving problems.Skill in developing comprehensive reports.Abilities:Ability to plan, organize, and integrate priorities and deadlines.Ability to identify, analyze, and interpret complex data and, resolve operational problems.Ability to evaluate and make recommendations for continuous quality improvement.Ability to evaluate and make recommendations for continuous risk assessment.Ability to anticipate and react calmly in emergency situations.Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing.Ability to competently use Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and appropriate organizational software.Essential FunctionsPrepare prescriptions, including labeling, counting medication and packaging for pharmacist reviewAssist with administration of the 340B drug pricing programAssist with administration of the RCCHC indigent medication programPull and fill prescriptions sent electronically in a timely mannerVerify all patient information received from patients, faxes and e-prescribing including allergies and insurance information for accuracyAssist with RCCHC sample medication programWork with clinic staff to maintain an appropriate formularyDevelop "par levels" of medication based on demand and availabilityMaintain/Update the pharmacy computer databaseOrder replacement medications as neededMaintain pharmacy stock including rotation of stock to avoid out of date stockOrient patients to pharmacy workflows and processesAssist with orientation and training of personnelPull, reverse claims, and restock all medications that were not picked up within days of fill date.Maintain reports and logs for the pharmacyMaintain strict patient confidentialityParticipate in quality improvement projectsCheck out patients and obtain patient's signature (or his/her representative per RCCHC policy) for receiving prescriptionsParticipate as an active member of the pharmacy teamMaintain compliance with workflows, policies and procedures as well as other activities to support PCMH model of care and accreditationOther job duties may be required that are not listed above.
