At Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital (VESH), you'll do more than perform advanced surgical procedures, you'll become a key contributor to a growing specialty hospital committed to delivering exceptional patient care in a collaborative and supportive environment.

We're seeking a board-certified surgeon or residency-trained veterinarian pursuing board certification to join our team in Wichita, Kansas. Following the opening of our new 15,000-square-foot specialty hospital, this is an exciting opportunity to help shape and expand our surgical service while practicing alongside dedicated emergency and specialty professionals.

Our state-of-the-art facility was designed to support advanced surgical and specialty care, featuring three fully equipped operating rooms, on-site CT, endoscopy, a laparoscopy tower, and diagnostic-quality ultrasound capabilities. You'll be supported by a highly skilled team of technicians, all Recover CPR certified in both Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS), allowing you to focus on delivering the highest level of surgical care.

In your day-to-day, you will:

  • Balance time between consultations, case workups, and surgical procedures.
  • Perform orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries utilizing advanced imaging and surgical equipment.
  • Collaborate with emergency and specialty teams to support integrated case management.
  • Help shape and grow the surgical service in alignment with hospital goals and community needs.
  • Work alongside a dedicated and highly trained nursing and support team.
  • Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support teams to provide seamless, compassionate patient care.
  • Communicate clearly and empathetically with pet owners during stressful and emotional situations.
  • Contribute to a positive, team-focused hospital culture built on collaboration, mentorship, and continuous learning.

What You Bring

  • DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with eligibility for Kansas veterinary licensure.
  • Board Certification in Surgery (DACVS) or residency-trained and board-eligible in Surgery.
  • Strong communication skills with a compassionate, client-centered approach.
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to exceptional patient care.
  • A passion for continuous learning, teamwork, and advancing specialty medicine.
