Consulting Registered DietitianLocation: Livingston County (Geneseo), New York Employment Type: Contract Work Setting: Primarily Onsite / Field-Based with Telephone Counseling Hours: 16 hours per weekThe RD will work across Livingston County, including:Congregate meal sitesClients' homesOFA/County officeKitchens and caterersHome Delivered Meals packaging locations/routesCommunity locationsTelephone counselingThe engagement is primarily onsite/field-based because the scope requires visits to meal sites, kitchens, packaging locations, and client homes. The position requires 16 hours of RD consultation per week, with additional hours potentially available on an as-needed basis with advance notice. Client is seeking a qualified Registered Dietitian (RD) to support its Senior Nutrition Program. The RD will work under the direction of the Senior Nutrition Program Coordinator and OFA Director and provide nutrition counseling, education, menu review, meal-program monitoring, food-service technical assistance, and required documentation. The Consulting Registered Dietitian will evaluate the nutritional needs of senior nutrition program participants, develop and implement individualized counseling plans, monitor outcomes, and provide nutrition education. The RD will also review and certify menus, monitor kitchens and meal-service operations, provide technical assistance and training, and prepare reports and documentation required by the program.Key ResponsibilitiesEvaluate Senior Nutrition Program participants' nutritional needs. Develop, implement, and evaluate nutrition counseling plans. Provide nutrition counseling to clients and/or caregivers at congregate sites, homes, the OFA office, or by telephone. Participate in Case Management/Client Team reviews and discussions as requested. Provide nutrition education presentations at congregate meal sites at least 6 times per year. Develop, review, and approve nutrition education materials and maintain an annual education plan. Develop at least 12 nutrition newsletters per year for congregate and home-delivered meal participants. Plan, review, and certify menus based on participant preferences, dietary needs, nutrition requirements, food suitability, meal satisfaction, and cost. Monitor kitchens, caterers, and Home Delivered Meals (HDM) packaging locations. Review food quality, preparation methods, standardized recipes, portion control, packaging, leftovers, inventory, storage, temperatures, sanitation, and equipment. Monitor congregate meal sites for portion control, food temperatures, sanitation, equipment condition, meal service, and participant satisfaction. Monitor meal delivery operations, including meal handling and carrier/driver practices. Prepare written monitoring reports, findings, recommendations, and nutrition education/counseling service documentation. Enter required information into the statewide client data system. Attend OFA meetings and provide technical assistance regarding program development, policies, and procedures. Provide training related to food-service practices, food and equipment specifications, sanitation, production efficiency, kitchen planning, and senior nutritional needs.Required QualificationsQualified Registered Dietitian (RD). Must provide educational degree information. NYS certification/qualification information must be provided. Registration or eligibility for registration with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, or equivalent training and experience. Demonstrated relevant experience and background providing similar nutrition services. Participation in continuing education annually. Ability to provide required nutrition counseling, education, menu review, meal monitoring, reporting, and technical assistance services.
