FACE Adult Education Coach (Leave Replacement)
The FACE Adult Education Coach supports parents, caregivers, and adult family members enrolled in the Family and Child Education (FACE) Program by providing individualized coaching, educational support, family engagement opportunities, and connections to community resources that promote lifelong learning, self-sufficiency, and family well-being. Through a strengths-based and culturally responsive approach, the Coach assists adults in identifying and achieving educational, career, parenting, cultural, and personal development goals while fostering meaningful engagement in their children's education.
Working collaboratively with FACE staff, school personnel, tribal departments, and community partners, the FACE Adult Education Coach conducts needs assessments, facilitates individual and group learning opportunities, supports workforce readiness and career exploration, connects families with educational and community resources, and promotes participation in FACE activities and events. The position serves as a trusted advocate and resource for families, helping strengthen parent-child relationships, support family literacy, encourage school readiness, and advance the overall goals of the FACE program.
The FACE Adult Education Coach maintains accurate program documentation, monitors participant progress toward established goals, assists with family recruitment and retention efforts, and contributes to the creation of a welcoming, culturally responsive environment that honors Native values, traditions, and community connections.
Chief Leschi Schools was founded in 1976 to address the high dropout rate of the youth of the Puyallup tribe. It is the largest of seven tribal schools in the state of Washington and one of approximately 200+ tribal schools in the United States. It is also one of the largest tribal schools to be funded by the Bureau of Indian Education.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct intake interviews, needs assessments, and goal-setting meetings with enrolled adults to identify educational, career, parenting, cultural, and personal development goals.
- Develop and maintain individualized support plans that assist participants in achieving established goals and overcoming barriers to success.
- Provide one-on-one coaching, mentoring, and guidance to support adult learners in educational advancement, workforce readiness, family engagement, and personal growth.
- Assist participants in exploring educational opportunities, career pathways, job training programs, certifications, post-secondary options, and workforce development resources.
- Facilitate workshops, learning activities, and group sessions related to family literacy, career readiness, parenting skills, financial literacy, life skills, cultural enrichment, and other topics aligned with FACE program goals.
- Provide support with employment readiness activities, including resume development, job search strategies, interview preparation, application assistance, and career exploration.
- Connect participants with community resources, tribal programs, educational institutions, social service agencies, healthcare providers, workforce development organizations, and other support services as appropriate.
- Promote and support family engagement by encouraging active participation in children's education, school activities, cultural events, and FACE programming.
- Collaborate with FACE staff, teachers, administrators, tribal departments, and community partners to coordinate services and support positive outcomes for participating families.
- Assist with planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating FACE family events, workshops, celebrations, recruitment activities, and community outreach efforts.
- Develop and maintain positive, respectful, and culturally responsive relationships with participants, families, community members, and partner organizations.
- Conduct outreach and recruitment activities to increase awareness of the FACE program and encourage participation among eligible families.
- Monitor participant progress toward established goals and provide ongoing support, encouragement, referrals, and follow-up services.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and complete records of participant contacts, services provided, assessments, goal progress, referrals, attendance, and program outcomes in accordance with FACE, district, tribal, and federal requirements.
- Enter required data and documentation into program databases and reporting systems within established timelines.
- Assist with collection of program data, outcome measures, reports, and other information necessary to support program evaluation, compliance, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Participate in professional development activities, program meetings, training opportunities, and collaborative planning sessions.
- Support the mission, goals, and objectives of the FACE program while honoring and incorporating Native culture, traditions, values, and community connections into program activities whenever appropriate.
- Maintain confidentiality of participant, family, student, and program information in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and professional standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned consistent with the scope and responsibilities of the position.

Minimum Requirements:
- Associate degree in Education, Human Services, Social Work, Counseling, Workforce Development, Family Studies, Native Studies, Behavioral Sciences, or a related field; OR
- Sixty (60) semester college credits and two (2) years of experience working with adults, families, youth, community programs, education programs, workforce development, case management, or related services; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and directly related experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully perform the position.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience providing coaching, mentoring, advocacy, case management, educational support, workforce development services, family engagement services, or related community-based support.
- Demonstrated ability to build positive working relationships with adults, families, community organizations, and educational partners.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, data entry systems, and electronic documentation.
- Valid Washington State Driver's License and ability to travel locally as required.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
Note: This position meets the Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) Family and Child Education (FACE) program qualification requirements for Adult Education Coach positions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Adult Education, Human Services, Social Work, Counseling, Workforce Development, Family Studies, Native Studies, or a related field.
- Washington State Teaching Certificate, ESA Certificate, Career and Technical Education (CTE) Certificate, or related professional credential.
- Experience working with Native American students, families, tribes, or Indigenous communities.
- Experience facilitating adult education, workforce readiness, GED preparation, financial literacy, parenting education, life skills training, or family engagement programming.
- Experience providing career coaching, employment support, workforce navigation, or educational advising services.
- Knowledge of local workforce development systems, community resources, tribal services, and post-secondary opportunities.
- Experience organizing community events, family engagement activities, workshops, or group trainings.
- Experience working within federally funded education programs, including FACE, Title programs, Head Start, or similar initiatives.

- Confidentiality requirements and ethical standards related to participant and family information.
