Legal Industry Collections Specialist

Role Description The Legal Industry Collections Specialist will manage a portfolio of receivables balances, for law firms and professional service providers, to resolve past-due balances in a professional and compliant manner. Daily responsibilities include ongoing communications with billing attorneys, contacting clients by phone and email, negotiating payment arrangements, documenting all communications, and coordinating with internal teams to resolve disputes or billing questions. The role involves reviewing and understanding legal industry billing documentation related to accounts, ensuring adherence to our client's policies and regulations, and escalating complex legal or financial issues as needed. The specialist will also contribute to process improvements, prepare status reports on collections activity, and maintain accurate records in the client company’s systems database.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in collections management with the ability to understand and work within legal industry billing practices and documentation.
• Experience with Legal Industry billing and collections, particularly as they relate to negotiating payment agreements, and resolving account disputes.
• Excellent Communication skills, including clear, professional verbal and written communication and the ability to negotiate effectively while maintaining positive client relationships.
• Prior experience in collections, accounts receivable, or credit and collections within the legal or professional services industry is highly beneficial.
• Knowledge of relevant regulations and best practices in collections and financial services, with a commitment to ethical and compliant conduct.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple accounts and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with common office software and collections or CRM systems; ability to learn new tools quickly.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate or bachelor’s degree in business, finance or a a related field is preferred.
