Position: Massage Therapist

Location: Hotel at the University of Maryland

Department: The Spa

Reports To: Spa General Manager

Status: Part-Time | Weekend availability required.

Compensation: $15.00 per hour or 38%, whichever is greater + gratuities

As a Massage Therapist, you bring a calm, professional presence and a dedication to providing exceptional therapeutic experiences for every guest. You take pride in creating a relaxing environment, tailoring each service to individual needs, and delivering treatments that promote relaxation, recovery, and overall well-being.

What You'll Do:

• Provide professional massage therapy services to guests in accordance with spa standards and protocols.
• Customize treatments based on guests' needs, preferences, and health considerations.
• Create a welcoming, relaxing, and safe environment for every guest.
• Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of treatment rooms, equipment, and supplies.
• Educate guests on wellness benefits and recommend services or products when appropriate.
• Communicate clearly with guests before, during, and after treatments to ensure comfort and satisfaction.
• Support the spa team in delivering a high-quality guest experience.

What We're Looking For:

• Current Massage Therapy License in the State of Maryland (required).
• Previous massage therapy or spa experience preferred.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Professional demeanor with the ability to create a calming guest experience.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Availability to work weekends and holidays is required.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for extended periods during treatments.
• Ability to perform massage therapy techniques requiring repetitive movements and physical stamina.
• Capability to lift, move, and carry supplies up to 25lbs when needed.

Additional Responsibilities:

• The hotel operates 24/7, requiring department schedules to adapt to varying business demands. Employees may need to work shifts outside their preferred or usual hours.
• Employees must comply with all hotel-established work rules, procedures, and policies, including those outlined in the employee handbook.
