Easybill Software Engineer Position

Easybill is a cloud-based invoicing software that has been on the market for more than 18 years due to its simple application, comprehensive functionality, and diverse connections through interfaces. Currently, we have more than 21,000 active customers and are growing steadily. That's why we are looking for motivated reinforcements for our team.

At easybill, we work remote-first, your place of residence is irrelevant to us - we are looking for the best colleagues, not the most beautiful city. Our permanent locations are in Hamburg and Willich. With regular team events, we still like to get together to exchange ideas and celebrate.

The ideal profile: PHP, TypeScript, and Rust expertise, founding engineer vibes, and a strong presence on GitHub. Even if the profile does not fully match, but you are an exceptionally strong engineer, apply anyway and show us what you have built.

Tasks

We are a very motivated team of software developers. As part of the team, you would develop new features and/or scalability solutions. Ownership is important to us. We expect high self-responsibility, the motivation to complete projects, and the willingness to shape the e-invoicing landscape.

The main application is written in PHP/TypeScript, but we also develop in Kotlin and preferably Rust. We intensively use MySQL (Percona XtraDB Cluster), TiDB, Elasticsearch, Redis, MinIO, Docker, and more. However, the ability to work with multiple programming languages is assumed.

• Independent, motivated, and self-organized work - we like to invest in our colleagues, but we also have high expectations.
• Backend development (PHP + Symfony)
• Frontend development (TypeScript + React + TanStack)
• Development of microservices via Rust/Java
• Migration of PHP code to Rust.
• Migrations of data, refactoring
• Error analysis and debugging
• You must understand how to use AI as a productivity lever. We expect intensive use of Claude code.
• Maybe work on infrastructure and local dockerized development environments

Qualification

Basically, you don't have to know everything. It is important to us that you can show us that you are really good in your current technology stack and can credibly convince us that you are ready to quickly learn our stack.

• Deep knowledge in the field of software development. We use a lot of PHP and/or depending on the focus TypeScript, plus we have some Java and Rust in the stack. If you are an expert in the use of Rust, Java, Go, Zig, or other languages, we will also get to know you.
• Bonus: Experience with Rust, DSA, TS, distributed systems, data-intensive applications
• Bonus: Open-source contributions or public experiments (GitHub)
• Language: Fluent German and good English skills
