Procurement Specialist

Greater Columbus Ohio area

Key Accountabilities:

·  Strategic sourcing

• Develop commodity and supplier strategies.
• Understand the global/North American supplier landscape.
• Evaluate suppliers based on cost, quality, development capability, and delivery.
• Participate in new-model sourcing and supplier selection.

·  Cost management & negotiation

• Establish should-cost/target-cost expectations.
• Negotiate piece price and investment.
• Deliver annual cost reductions/ACR.
• Understand manufacturing processes and how design decisions affect cost.

·  Supplier management

• Build long-term supplier relationships.
• Resolve commercial and operational issues.
• Balance supplier relationships with the company's cost and performance objectives.

·  Automotive/new-model development

• Work closely with Design/Engineering.
• Understand drawings/blueprints and critical design characteristics.
• Manage sourcing activities across multiple vehicle/model programs.
• Maintain accurate BOM and supplier-selection information.

·  Cross-functional leadership

• Build consensus among Purchasing, Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Finance, and suppliers.
• Manage projects without necessarily having direct authority over everyone involved.
• Communicate recommendations using data and logic.

·  Analytical/problem-solving ability

• Analyze cost breakdowns and manufacturing processes.
• Research commodity and market trends.
• Identify cost-reduction opportunities.
• Make fact-based sourcing recommendations.

·  Leadership/development

• Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Drive continuous improvement/lean activities.
• Mentor junior purchasing employees.
