We are searching for RN's in the areas below: Inpatient Surgical:  Barnes-Jewish Hospital Inpatient Surgery is a fast-paced, multidisciplinary hospital unit that provides specialized pre-operative and post-operative care for patients undergoing complex surgical procedures. The department cares for a wide range of surgical populations including trauma, transplant, orthopedic, thoracic, GI, vascular, urology, ENT, and hepatobiliary patients. Acute Medicine:  Acute Care Medicine at Barnes-Jewish includes approximately 300 beds and is a high-acuity inpatient medical unit that provides comprehensive care for patients with complex conditions including heart and renal failure, endocrine disorders, GI diseases, infectious diseases, respiratory illnesses, and hematologic conditions. NeuroSciences: The department includes Neuro Medicine units, a Neurosurgical Step-Down Unit, and one of the nation?s largest Neuro ICUs, offering nurses and staff exposure to cutting-edge technology, multidisciplinary collaboration, and evidence-based care in a nationally recognized academic teaching hospital environment.

Overview Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and is ranked as one of the nation's top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. Barnes-Jewish Hospital's staff is composed of full-time academic faculty and community physicians of Washington University School of Medicine, supported by a house staff of residents, interns, fellows and other medical professionals. Recognizing its excellence in nursing care, Barnes-Jewish Hospital was the first adult hospital in Missouri to be certified as a Magnet Hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Acute Care Medicine has patients with a full range of clinical issues-from significant blood dyscrasias, advanced endocrine pathology, heart and renal failure, GI conditions, infectious diseases, asthma and a multitude of other conditions and diseases.¿ Due to the patient acuity on the nursing division, we provide advanced training to bring new nurses to the highest level of functioning.¿ Each unit is lead by a clinical manager and lead charge nurse.¿ The unit is supported by an advanced practice nurse.¿ Additionally each unit is assigned a case manager, social worker, physical therapist, dietitian, and pharmacist.¿ This multidisciplinary team works in conjunction with the physicians, nurses and patient care technicians to provide quality patient care. Preferred Qualifications Role Purpose Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care. Responsibilities Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and their families on how to manage their illness or injury, including post treatment home care needs and medication administration. Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance. Participates in professional development. Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and patient, family or caregiver in accordance with the established guidelines and standards of nursing care. Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care. Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care. Assess patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including their values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.
