Heavy Equipment Maintenance Technician

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

• Coordinate with and receive instructions from plant manager to help with preventative and predictive maintenance on facility vehicles and machinery.
• Assist with equipment repairs, maintenance, paperwork and logs.
• Replace hoses, blades, etc. on equipment.
• Assist with equipment fabrication projects.
• Weld equipment and parts.
• Maintain and secure work tools, keep tools organized, and in good shape.
• Clean, sweep and organize the shop so that tools and supplies look neat and can be found quickly.
• Look for tasks that need doing and complete them without having to be told.
• Turn off lights at end of day, secure tools and shop.
• Other duties as assigned.


Spot Welding will be a job duty as well. You must know how to perform maintenance on heavy equipment.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.
- 2 years of equipment repair experience. Good working knowledge of parts and mechanical systems.
- 2 years of welding experience with all types of general welding.
- Self starter with the ability to prioritize and finish tasks.
- Ability to take direction and work with others.
- Ability to stay productive and busy.
- Ability to maintain a positive and helpful attitude in all types of circumstances.
- Must have own tools.
