Position Summary

The Barista is responsible for creating exceptional guest experiences by preparing and serving high-quality coffee beverages, teas, and light food offerings in a welcoming and efficient manner. As a representative of The Elms Hotel & Spa, the Barista provides outstanding service to hotel guests, spa guests, and local visitors while maintaining a clean, organized, and inviting café environment.

Essential Functions

• Prepare and serve specialty coffee beverages, espresso drinks, teas, smoothies, and other café offerings according to established recipes and presentation standards.
• Greet guests warmly and provide personalized, attentive service.
• Accurately take guest orders, process payments, and handle cash and credit card transactions.
• Maintain knowledge of menu offerings and make recommendations to enhance the guest experience.
• Ensure food and beverage items are prepared and presented according to hotel standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café, service areas, dining spaces, and equipment.
• Stock and replenish supplies, products, and retail items as needed.
• Monitor product quality and notify leadership of inventory or equipment concerns.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department guidelines.
• Assist with opening and closing duties, including cleaning, stocking, and cash reconciliation.
• Support other Food & Beverage outlets and hotel departments as business levels require.
• Promote hotel services, amenities, and special offerings to guests.
• Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to The Elms Hotel & Spa grooming and uniform standards.

Qualifications

• Previous customer service experience required.
• Previous barista, café, restaurant, or hospitality experience preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Ability to learn beverage recipes and operate café equipment.
• Positive attitude and commitment to delivering exceptional guest service.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive motions.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining excellent service standards.

Compensation: $15.00
