Elementary Education or Early Childhood Teacher - Reset Program Midwest City - Del City School District Central Office - Director of Elementary - Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Starting Date: Immediately Position Summary: The teacher will be expected to establish and foster a positive classroom environment where students are given the opportunity to develop academically and socially. The teacher will be in a specialized alternative education setting that is a short‑term placement for students to support mental health, as well as building students’ capacity for academic success and positive social and emotional well‑being. The teacher will also be expected to maintain compliance with district policies and initiatives as supervised by the site administrator, as well as district personnel supporting the Reset Program. Positive and professional relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and all stakeholders are expected.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year college or university Teaching certification in Early Childhood recognized by the State of Oklahoma 5 years or more of experience with children or in a classroom setting is preferred Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain all records and the comprehensive computer database necessary to complete the annual child counts and other state and federal reports required by the Oklahoma State Department of Education. Teach academic content as designated to pupils in a classroom, utilizing the course of study adopted by the Board of Education and activities aligned to current state standards. Adhere to district and school policies as set forth by district/site handbooks. Create a learning environment that allows all students to feel safe and successful. Instruct pupils in basic subject matter specified in state law and regulations and procedures of the school district. Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil. Monitor and evaluate pupils' academic and social growth toward goals, make adjustments as needed, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports. Communicate and collaborate effectively with families through conferences, family education events, and other means to discuss pupil's progress through the Reset Program. Identify pupil needs and collaborate with other professional staff members in assessing and providing interventions/resources for pupils’ health, social‑emotional, and academic needs. Enhance professional pedagogy through in‑service education provided by the district and self‑selected professional growth opportunities; set goals for professional growth and seek guidance. Perform additional duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or above.

LANGUAGE AND GRAMMAR SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos; ability to compose and write grammatically correct correspondence and memos.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, schedule, or blueprint form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up or more than 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to or more than 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; stand, walk, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and occasionally sit.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment may include regular exposure to fumes or airborne particles, high or precarious places, outdoor weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock and vibration, and noise levels varying from somewhat loud to extremely loud.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Employee may occasionally be required to supervise a varying number of employees in overall direction, coordination, and completion of tasks as assigned.
