Location: Frankfort, Indiana
Pay Range: $55 annually
Schedule: First shift, Monday through Friday

About the Role

NHK Seating of America, Inc. is seeking a Purchasing Coordinator to support supplier relationships, pricing analysis, purchase orders, cost-reduction activities, and new-model development in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment. This role partners with suppliers and internal teams to meet quality, delivery, production, and cost objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary contact for suppliers regarding production, commercial, quality, and delivery concerns.
• Issue Engineering Requests for Quote (ERFQs) to current and prospective suppliers for new-model parts.
• Issue Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) to suppliers to evaluate pricing for design changes to current and new production parts.
• Review supplier pricing, cost models, market changes, and cost-reduction opportunities.
• Track price changes resulting from market conditions, design changes, and cost-reduction activities.
• Collaborate with suppliers on Kaizen, value analysis/value engineering (VA/VE), and cost-reduction activities.
• Issue purchase orders for production parts, trial parts, tooling, service parts, and related items.
• Review and approve invoices for payment in IntelliChief.
• Collaborate with other departments during new-model development on tooling schedules, trial events, and related activities.
• Negotiate pricing, development timing, new-model awards, and supplier agreements.
• Analyze and compare costs across multiple suppliers, commodities, and materials.
• Monitor supplier performance and collaborate with internal teams to resolve open issues.
• Build and maintain cooperative working relationships between NHK and its suppliers.
• Lead supply-chain meetings with suppliers and internal NHK team members.
• Hold suppliers accountable for production, shipping, and quality issues, and collaborate with other departments to resolve them.
• Provide management with concise updates on open issues, the actions being taken to resolve them, and any guidance needed.
• Maintain compliance with company policies and perform other assigned duties.

Qualifications

• Understanding of manufacturing processes, quality standards, and purchasing practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication, mathematical, analytical, and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, and other required computer applications.
• Ability to read and interpret part drawings and evaluate supplier pricing.
• Ability to travel to supplier locations as needed, up to 25%.
• At least one year of experience in purchasing, sales, or account management.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
