Job Summary Perform intermediate level work related to gas and/or liquids pipeline system operations. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Perform pipeline operations and maintenance activities on systems including compressor stations, gas storage, dehydration facilities, pumping facilities, measurement facilities, and related equipment. Startup and shutdown. Pigging. Collecting liquids. Changing charts. Gauging tanks. Locating and marking lines. Monitoring cathodic protection/basic pipe coatings. Leakage survey/patrolling pipelines. Blowing drips. Perform and/or dispatch line locates. Construction watch. Monitor usage and/or replace lubricants, fluids, inhibitors, chemicals, etc., as needed to ensure safe and efficient operation of equipment. Exchange information regarding pipeline operations, maintenance, measurement, and other activities with public/governmental officials, employees, contractors, customers, producers, and landowners. Provide calculations, compile, and/or prepare information and reports including gas/liquid flow and quality, maintenance and/or repair logs, samples (gas/liquids), pipeline/corrosion activities, construction inspection, and appropriate regulatory requirements. Drive and ensure maintenance is completed on assigned company vehicles. React immediately to emergency situations to prevent injury to self and others. Responsible for Department of Transportation (DOT) covered functions, including operations, maintenance, or emergency response on a pipeline. Alert and respond immediately to dangerous or hazardous conditions. Education None required. Experience Experience operating and maintaining pipeline systems and related equipment used in natural gas and liquids gathering and transmission systems. Experience in various field functions including measurement, cathodic protection, and compressor/pump station operations. Experience in maintenance and repair of equipment. Training and/or knowledge of company and governmental operating/safety procedures and environmental regulations. Knowledge of natural gas and gas liquid characteristics, pigging pipelines, blowing drips, gauging tanks, and collecting liquids. Experience with construction methods, patrolling pipelines, performing leakage surveys, locating/marking lines. Experience working with valves and dehydration equipment, scrubbers, and separators. Experience using Microsoft Excel, Project, Access, Word, etc. Experience interacting, negotiating, advising, and communicating effectively and exchanging written and verbal information and instructions. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of cathodic protection/corrosion control activities. Ability to use tools and equipment including computers and related software. Ability to establish, prioritize, and complete assignments in a timely manner with limited supervision. Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify alternate solutions or approaches to a problem. Ability to communicate thoughts, ideas, information, and messages in a logical, organized, and coherent manner. Ability to apply formulas to estimate or calculate flow rates and volumes. Ability to apply basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division). Licenses and Certifications None required. Physical Demands and Requirements Heavy work – exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Stands, walks, sits, lifts, carries, pushes, pulls, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, crawls, reaches, handles, fingers, feels, talks, hears, tastes/smells, sees (near, far, depth, color), and works in varied environmental conditions. Working Conditions / Environment Both indoor (well-lit, climate-controlled) and outdoor (weather, wet/humid, extreme heat/cold). Exposure to dust, fumes, gases, moving mechanical parts, electric shock, vibration, noise, heights, repetitive motion, and computer monitors. Travel Up to 30% within assigned geographic region.
