Job Purpose:

The Director, Performance & Planning (Clinical) is a strategy and analytics-driven role that serves as the right hand to the Chief Medical Officer, translating clinical performance data into actionable strategic and operational planning across a 60+ clinic fertility network. This role is designed for a consultant-caliber or data analytics professional who can move fluidly between rigorous quantitative analysis and clear strategic storytelling — building the clinical performance infrastructure (dashboards, benchmarking, planning frameworks) the CMO needs to drive clinic productivity, standardize outcomes, and support board/PE-facing clinical narratives. This is an individual-contributor strategy role, not a clinical or people-management position.

Essential Functions and Accountabilities:

Clinical Performance Analytics

• Build and maintain clinic-level and enterprise-level performance dashboards covering clinical productivity, cycle volumes, success rates, and key operational metrics.
• Design benchmarking frameworks to compare clinic performance across the network, identifying top performers and improvement opportunities.
• Partner with Clinical Operations and Finance to ensure clinical performance metrics are accurately defined, sourced, and consistently reported.
• Conduct ad hoc deep-dive analyses on clinical productivity, capacity utilization, and growth opportunities at the CMO's direction.

Strategic Planning Support

• Lead development of the CMO's strategic and annual planning materials, translating clinical priorities into structured plans with clear objectives and success measures.
• Support clinic productivity improvement initiatives by identifying root causes of underperformance and partnering with operational leaders on action plans.
• Contribute clinical performance analysis to the broader THRIVE Transformation Program, particularly the clinic productivity and commercial conversion pillars.
• Model the clinical impact of proposed acquisitions, new clinic openings, or service line expansions to support growth decision-making.

Board & PE Reporting

• Develop board- and investor-ready clinical performance narratives, combining data visualization with clear strategic framing.
• Partner with the CMO to prepare QBR content, headwinds/tailwinds narratives, and clinical KPI scorecards for regional dyad leaders and executive leadership.
• Ensure clinical performance reporting aligns with broader enterprise reporting cadences (HR, Finance, Operations).

Cross-Functional Partnership

• Serve as a key liaison between the Office of the CMO and Clinical Operations, HR, Finance, and the PMO on clinically-driven initiatives.
• Support physician and clinic leadership with data-informed recommendations during regional and site-level performance reviews.
• Help shape the analytics and planning infrastructure needed to support continued network growth through M&A.

Qualifications

Required

• 5+ years of experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, or data/business analytics, ideally with healthcare or multi-site services exposure.
• Advanced proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Tableau, Power BI, or equivalent).
• Demonstrated ability to translate complex data into clear, decision-ready strategic narratives for executive audiences.
• Strong project management skills; able to independently structure and drive analytical projects from question to recommendation.
• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative, business, or health-related field.

Preferred

• Prior experience in a management consulting firm, healthcare strategy function, or PE-backed portfolio company.
• Experience with clinical or healthcare operations data (e.g., EMR data, clinical productivity metrics, fertility/IVF outcomes data).
• MBA or other advanced degree.
• Experience supporting a physician or clinical executive directly in a chief-of-staff or strategy-advisor capacity.

Skills and Competencies

• Exceptional analytical rigor combined with strong business judgment — comfortable moving from raw data to a clear recommendation.
• Polished written and visual communication; able to build board-ready materials independently.
• High intellectual curiosity and comfort operating in a fast-moving, still-maturing clinical data environment.
• Strong relationship-building skills with physician and clinical leadership, despite this being a non-clinical role.
• Self-directed and consultant-minded; comfortable structuring ambiguous problems without significant oversight.

While not a people-management role, this position requires significant leadership presence — the ability to walk into a room of physicians and clinic leaders and earn credibility through the quality of analysis and the clarity of recommendations. The ideal candidate brings a consulting-grade combination of rigor, polish, and pragmatism, paired with genuine intellectual partnership with the CMO. This is a high-visibility seat for someone who wants outsized strategic impact without managing a team.
