AVP - Corporate Counsel, Reinsurance

Role Overview We are seeking an experienced and versatile in‑house counsel to join the RVI Group legal team, focusing on reinsurance matters while providing legal support to other business units in a fast‑paced environment. Key Responsibilities Draft, review, and advise on reinsurance contracts, collateral agreements, and non‑disclosure agreements; assist with renewals, amendments, endorsements, and commutations. Advise on reinsurance regulatory requirements in the U.S., Bermuda, and other jurisdictions; monitor developments in reinsurance law and ensure compliance with applicable statutes and regulations. Collaborate with business units on structuring and implementing reinsurance transactions, including fronting arrangements, strategic managing general agent partnerships, and retrocessionaire agreements. Assist in managing reinsurance claims and disputes, including arbitration and litigation support. Work closely with business units and the finance team to provide practical legal advice and support corporate initiatives and special projects. Partner with the Commercial Equipment and Passenger Vehicle teams to ensure timely and efficient execution of corporate and insurance legal tasks. Take on new responsibilities in other business units as needed, applying consistent legal terms and protections companywide. Requirements Law degree from a nationally accredited law school. 8‑10 years of legal experience in a corporate legal department, a nationally recognized law firm, and/or property and casualty reinsurance. Solid contract drafting skills and strong analytical, organizational, and project‑management abilities. Excellent written and verbal communication with strong presentation skills; ability to influence and partner effectively. Strong understanding of the insurance and reinsurance industries; ability to work across multiple teams in a dynamic setting. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, demonstrating sound judgment and professionalism. Business‑oriented, financially astute, and highly collaborative with a commitment to integrity and ethical conduct. Benefits Hybrid work model: two days per week in Stamford office.
