Certified and uncertified candidates are encouraged to apply! As an Ophthalmic Assistant, you will play an important role in the patient experience by gathering and documenting clinical information, assisting providers with examinations and procedures, and helping to ensure efficient patient flow throughout the practice. Working closely with our Ophthalmologists and clinical team, you will help support the diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of a wide variety of ocular conditions. Previous ophthalmology experience is welcomed but not required for candidates with a strong interest in learning and developing within the specialty.Training & Scheduling InformationTo ensure a successful onboarding experience, the first 2–3 months of training may take place at our Boston locations and may include supporting other locations as needed prior to the Weymouth site becoming fully operational. Following the opening of the Weymouth office, occasional coverage at other locations may be required based on operational needs. Hours are assigned based on clinical and operational needs, as well as staff availability, and may vary. Typical shifts may include, but are not limited to: 7:45 AM – 4:15 PM, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM.QualificationsEducation: High School Diploma or Equivalent required. Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No. Licenses and Credentials: N/A. Experience: Experience in an ophthalmic or health care-related setting 0-1 year preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of basic medical terminology or the ability to learn. Proficient in interpersonal and customer service skills to effectively work with patients and families. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide services appropriate to the patients' age, mental and physical needs. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to prioritize and adapt to changes in fast-paced, high-volume clinics. Ability to work independently and effectively with members of the care team. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions based on the role's scope of practice.
