Travel Registered Nurse ER Job

Overview Registered Nurse – Emergency Department (ER), Plattsburgh, NY. Start date: 07/27/2026. Duration: 13–16 weeks. Weekly pay: $2,430–$2,541. Shift: 3x12-hour nights. Employment type: Travel - Temporary Assignment. Setting: hospital-based ED with adult and pediatric populations, including a 29-bed ED, 4-bed behavioral health unit, and fast-track capacity; EPIC electronic medical record experience preferred. Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to adult and pediatric ED patients, including initiation and management of IV therapy and patient monitoring.
• Administer medications and IV drips per provider orders; start IVs and manage drains as needed, with pharmacy support for drips.
• continuously assess patient status, perform EKGs, interpret monitors, and coordinate rapid interventions in a high-volume environment.
• Document in the EPIC system and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including crisis clinicians and ancillary staff, to ensure safe, efficient care.
• Transport and triage patients as appropriate; manage boarded patients and psychiatry/behavioral health patients within a busy ED setting.
• Support respiratory therapy and nursing peers; follow unit protocols for pain management, sedation, and escalation of care.

Requirements

• Current New York RN license or active application with applied date; NY licensure typically takes 6–8 weeks.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC required; TNCC must be active or proof of class prior to start; NIHSS required prior to starting.
• Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years is required.
• Minimum 1 year of clinical ER experience; 1 year of ER specialty experience preferred.
• Prior travel experience preferred; charge nurse experience preferred.
• Ability to work in a high-volume ED with variable patient acuity and unit-specific procedures; capable of handling ratios up to approximately 1:5 or higher as census demands.
