Full or Part Time Full time only Reports to Operations Manager Key Responsibilities Maintain, troubleshoot and repair plant and mine mechanical and electrical equipment in accordance with plant, mine operating procedures and MSHA guidelines. Perform fabrication, assembly, welding, cutting, and other fabrication work to maintain high equipment reliability. Dismantle, repair, and reassemble complex mechanical, mobile, mine and electrical equipment. Serve as a member of the Continuous Improvement Group to resolve daily maintenance and electrical difficulties. Perform proactive/Predictive maintenance using advanced tools (thermograph, vibration, ultrasound, oil analysis, etc.). Troubleshoot equipment and component failures to achieve maximum productivity. Report maintenance problems to the appropriate supervisor, coordinator, or engineer and participate in corrective actions. Keep up to date on all maintenance and safety procedural changes and help develop new procedures as required. Conduct preventive/proactive inspections and document findings as directed by the maintenance coordinator and continuous improvement groups. Lead major repairs to facilitate plant operations. Perform necessary housekeeping tasks for safe and efficient operation. Fill out and follow up on work orders, locate and issue materials when needed. Operate mobile equipment safely to complete assigned tasks. Identify, report, and assist in resolution of safety and environmental concerns that may affect the health and safety of employees or other parties. Work independently or in harmony with coworkers with minimal supervision. Write and/or contribute to daily reports and other reports about special projects or incidents. Perform duty of crew leader when called upon. Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time. Requirements Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation. Relevant experience in mechanical/electrical maintenance repair of quarry or mine equipment. Trade or technical certification is an asset. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, airborne particles, confined spaces, outside weather conditions, low and artificial lighting, wet and/or humid conditions, proximity to electrical equipment, and vibration. The noise level is usually moderate and occasionally loud.
