Registered Nurse - NICU

Responsibilities We are seeking an experienced NICU Registered Nurse (Full Time‑Nights). The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized, family‑centered nursing care to critically ill and premature newborns in a high‑acuity neonatal environment. The RN utilizes clinical expertise, critical thinking, and evidence‑based practice to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care for neonatal patients while collaborating closely with neonatologists, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Provide direct nursing care to premature, critically ill, and medically complex neonates in the NICU setting. Perform comprehensive patient assessments and continuously monitor neonatal conditions, vital signs, and response to treatment. Administer medications, IV therapy, blood products, and specialized treatments in accordance with physician orders and hospital policies. Operate and monitor advanced neonatal equipment including ventilators, CPAP, cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, and incubators. Assist with neonatal procedures such as intubation, central line placement, umbilical line management, and resuscitation efforts. Recognize and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition and emergency situations. Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists, lactation consultants, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care plans. Educate and support parents and family members regarding neonatal conditions, treatments, discharge planning, and infant care. Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR). Ensure compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, and regulatory standards. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, unit‑based education, and continuing professional development activities. Serve as a patient advocate while promoting compassionate and culturally competent care. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. DC RN License required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Minimum of 4 years of recent NICU experience preferred. Current BLS certification required. Current ACLS certification required. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required.
