RN In Progressive Care Unit

The position involves caring for patients in a Progressive Care Unit setting. The unit has 34 beds with a patient ratio of 4:1. A charge nurse is available without an assignment when census allows. Patient Care Technicians are present on each shift to assist with care needs. There is dedicated telemetry monitoring support. Equipment used includes continuous cardiac monitoring, high-flow nasal cannula, chest tubes, PCA pumps, and Alaris IV infusion pumps. The documentation system utilized is EPIC. Scheduling requires working four weekend shifts within a four-week period with rotation for holidays. Floating within competency is expected when necessary. Patient experience standards emphasize bedside shift report, hourly rounding, and patient-centered care. The unit is certified in comprehensive stroke care, chest pain treatment, and as a Level II trauma center. Advanced skills required include management of vasoactive drips, chest tubes, high-flow oxygen therapy, BiPAP, and CPAP. Experience with post-cardiac procedure patients and participation in rapid response teams is also necessary. Procedures performed on the unit may include TEE and cardioversion. The dress code requires wearing Caribbean Blue scrubs. Unit-specific policies and guidelines should be reviewed.
