About the Position

Registered Nurse - PACU

Location: Bakersfield, California

Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: 4x10-hour shifts, Days, Every other weekend, first to float

Hours per Week: 40

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert post-anesthesia care for adult and pediatric patients recovering from surgery
• Manage ICU overflow patients including those on pressors, sedation, and ventilators
• Collaborate with a dedicated team in a fast-paced PACU setting
• Monitor vital signs, assess pain levels, and ensure safe recovery from anesthesia
• Document patient progress using Cerner EMR system

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in Cerner EMR
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
• Comfortable managing pressors, sedation, and ventilated patients
• Ability to handle a variety of cases: general, ortho, neuro, vascular, burn, GYN, ICU

Requirements

• 2+ years of combined PACU and ICU experience
• Must have experience with pediatric patients in a PACU or ICU setting
• Active California RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (AHA) required
