Toddler Teacher
$30 - $36 per hourAll Five
We believe that every child, regardless of family background, is a whole and unique person, with vast inner resources for understanding the self and the desire to contribute to the world. We are committed to active learning of kindness and leadership as well as critical thinking. All Five is a high-quality, NAEYC-accredited early childhood education program located in the Belle Haven community of Menlo Park. All Five believes every family, regardless of background, should have access to high-quality Early Childhood Education (ECE) in a nurturing, respectful learning community. Our year-round program operates Monday through Friday, from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM. At All Five, teachers partner closely with families, honor children’s cultures and languages, and practice an emergent, play-based curriculum grounded in developmental science and anti-bias principles. Our community includes multilingual families, children with a range of strengths and needs, and collaborative, reflective teaching teams. Who we are looking for We are seeking a dedicated and flexible Infant/Toddler teacher who is committed to collaboration, reflection, and building strong, respectful relationships with children, families, and colleagues. Our ideal candidate demonstrates care and respect for each child’s unique growth journey while providing high-quality care and education in a full-day program, and carries knowledge of, and deep respect for, the diverse experiences of our predominantly low-income (approximately 75%) community. Candidates with extensive knowledge of developmental milestones, routines, and age-appropriate practices are strongly encouraged to apply, and emerging educators who are eager to learn with coaching, mentoring, and paid professional development are also welcome. Familiarity with emergent curriculum, PTKLF, DRDP, NAEYC Accreditation, CLASS, ECERS/ITERS, and Brightwheel is a plus, and a willingness to learn these tools is essential. Responsibilities Plan and deliver an engaging early education program using an emergent curriculum model that is responsive to children’s interests, cultures, and developmental needs, while remaining flexible to support the needs of the whole school. Work effectively within a teaching team of up to four teachers, actively collaborating, sharing responsibilities, and stepping in where needed to contribute to a supportive, reflective classroom community. Collaborate with other classes and flexibly support outdoor and shared experiences as part of the broader program community, including helping in other classrooms when appropriate. Model clear, caring interactions and set developmentally appropriate limits to support children’s self-regulation and social‑emotional skills, even as classroom needs shift throughout the day. Provide nurturing, responsive, individualized care, including feeding, diapering, toileting, and monitoring children’s health and well‑being, with a team mindset about shared caregiving responsibilities. Promote a strength‑based image of self, colleagues, children, and the school in all interactions, demonstrating a collaborative, “we’re in this together” attitude. Build strong family partnerships through daily in‑person conversations, Brightwheel messaging, newsletters, and photo‑sharing so families feel informed and connected to the whole program, not just one classroom. Participate in weekly team meetings, monthly staff meetings, and paid professional development days as part of ongoing reflective practice, contributing actively and remaining open to feedback and shared problem‑solving. Support documentation and assessment, including DRDPs, observations, portfolios, curriculum planning, and family communication, sharing information across the team to support consistency for children and families. Recognize, support, and build on children’s strengths, including children with special needs, in collaboration with families and specialists, adjusting roles and approaches as team and child needs evolve. Integrate therapists, volunteers, and family members into the classroom program in a respectful and inclusive manner, coordinating with colleagues to ensure a cohesive team approach. Skills & Qualities Alert, gentle, flexible presence with children and adults, even in a fast‑paced, full‑day environment where plans and roles may change. Ability to multitask: engage meaningfully with children, complete classroom tasks, and communicate respectfully and effectively with adults, while collaborating and sharing responsibilities with teammates. Proactive, attentive, and responsive to the needs of both children and families, with a composed and professionally grounded demeanor, especially when supporting different classrooms or colleagues. Familiarity with (or openness to learning) developmentally appropriate practices and assessment methods, including PTKLF, DRDP, CLASS, ECERS/ITERS, and NAEYC standards, and willingness to apply them collaboratively across the program. Comfortable using tablets, iPads, and computers for communication, documentation, and assessments, and sharing information transparently with the team. Willingness to learn and implement an Emergent Curriculum approach and to reflect on practice with colleagues and leadership, demonstrating openness to feedback and collaborative problem‑solving. Commitment to equity, cultural humility, and working in partnership with diverse, multilingual families in the Belle Haven community, recognizing that this work is shared across the entire staff team. Bilingualism preferred, especially when used to support communication and connection for families and colleagues across the program. Education and certification CD Associate Teacher Permit (12 ECE units) or higher For Infant/Toddler teachers: 3 units in Infant/Toddler care required AA/BA in Child Development or Early Childhood Education is preferred but not required for strong, experienced candidates. Physical exam, including TB test. CPR and First Aid certification for young children, or willingness to complete training. Successful completion of fingerprinting and background check. Schedule, compensation, and benefits Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM–5:30 PM, full‑time teacher positions coordinated with the teaching team and Program Coordinators. Pay range: $30–$36 per hour, depending on experience and education. All Five fully covers the cost of a Kaiser base health insurance plan, with the option for employees to purchase additional coverage upgrades at their own expense. Retirement plan. Up to $300 education reimbursement per year. Paid professional development days and ongoing coaching/mentoring. Paid Time Off: 12 days personal use, including sick time; Federal holidays and 2 school breaks (see annual calendar for example). Supportive, collaborative work environment with opportunities for career growth into lead, mentor, or specialized roles. Candidates who are reflective, child‑centered, and excited to grow alongside children, families, and colleagues in a diverse community are encouraged to apply. #J-18808-Ljbffr All Five
