Chief of Pediatric Surgery Department of Surgery, Division of Pediatric Surgery Division Overview The Department of Surgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA invites applications for Chief of the Division of Pediatric Surgery, a faculty position in the Clinical Surgery or in‑Residence series at the Associate or Full Professor level, and the Eric W. Fonkalsrud, MD Endowed Chair in Pediatric Surgery. The Division of Pediatric Surgery provides exceptional patient care, pursues breakthrough research, produces significant advances in the treatment of pediatric disease, and trains the next generation of highly accomplished surgeons. The program is based on the campus of UCLA in Westwood at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center and UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital. The service also provides care at the UCLA Santa Monica Hospital, Harbor‑UCLA Medical Center, Los Angeles General Medical Center, Olive View‑UCLA Medical Center, and surrounding hospitals. Responsibilities Lead the Division and work alongside the Department Chair to represent the Division in the areas of financial performance, faculty career development, research, education, and clinical care. Establish and maintain local, regional and national visibility and prominence in the subspecialty. Advise on and support the exercise of the Eric W. Fonkalsrud, MD Endowed Chair in Pediatric Surgery, subject to Vice Chancellor’s recommendation/approval. Qualifications M.D. degree or equivalent, board certified in pediatric surgery, and eligible for licensure in the State of California. Strong track record as an outstanding clinician, exceptional educator, and experienced investigator with scholarly work in basic science, public health, global health or social science research. Demonstrated commitment to transparency, professionalism, clear communication, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
