Technical Writer III

Overview Kavaliro is seeking a Technical Writer III to support a client in Maryland. Responsibilities Under general direction, write technical copy for documents for programs/projects of similar complexity. Apply concepts for technical writing based on engineering drawings, technical information from engineering documentation, consultations with engineers and subject matter experts, and other sources. Produce defense acquisition documentation, user manuals, training manuals, and other documentation used by the end-user community of DoD electronic equipment and systems. Interpret engineering and maintenance drawings and operational procedures to understand and blend large quantities of computer-related information. Research highly technical subject matter, organize information from multiple sources, and express information in written form that is comprehensible to a wide audience. Produce technical documentation for Cryptologic programs or projects developing analytic tradecraft methodologies. Apply the NSA DS-89 technical manual standard to work products. Prepare and maintain operations documentation, user guides, manuals, and other technical publications. Prepare reports, responses, and briefings targeted to a wide range of audiences. Collaborate with developers to produce quality documentation and training materials; coordinate layout and design of documents; participate in all phases of documentation. Gather technical information and translate it into clear written text; maintain an internal documentation library if applicable. Use MS Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and related tools for documentation and presentations. Demonstrate basic grammar and writing concepts to ensure clarity of technical content. Qualifications Eight plus (8+) years of experience as a Technical Writer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity. Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required. A Master’s degree may be substituted for two (2) years of experience, reducing the requirement to a minimum of six (6) years of experience. Four (4) years of additional TW experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree. Active TS/SCI security clearance with Full Scope Polygraph is required. Knowledge and ability to apply technical manual standards (NSA DS-89) to work products. Location Fort Meade, MD — onsite; no remote availability.
