Lifeguard PositionPosition Type: Casual employees Location: Plymouth & Sandburg Middle Schools Closing Date: Open until filled Position: Lifeguard Hourly Rate: $16.75-$18.50 depending on certification and experience Schedule: Flexible: Up to 12 hours per week, Evenings (typically Tues/Thurs, 5-8:30pm) and weekends (typically two Saturdays a month, 10am-2pm)The Community Education Aquatics team is responsible for providing safe, high-quality swim lessons to all participants. Staff are required to communicate with students and families, clearly explaining expectations, lesson objectives, and outcomes.Essential FunctionsPerforms duties within scope of authority and training, and in compliance with Robbinsdale Area Schools District 281 policies; duties will vary according to job assignment. Employees are required to be in attendance and prepared to begin work at their assigned work location on the specified days and hours. Factors such as regular attendance at the job are not routinely listed in job descriptions, but are an essential function. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:Maintain a safe environment for all participants and staffKnow and enforce all program policies and rulesFollow established emergency proceduresRespond effectively in an emergency situationMaintain current required certificationsInspect pool area for cleanliness, safety hazards, and unsafe conditionsMaintain a professional appearance while on dutyArrive on time in proper uniformParticipate in in-service training and staff developmentMinimum QualificationsMust be at least 15 years old Ability to work with people from various cultures Demonstrate excellent customer service and problem solving skills while dealing tactfully and courteously with the public Able to attend work regularly and report to work in a timely manner Effective verbal and written communication Current Lifeguard, CPR, and First-Aid Certificates within two months of hire Lifeguard certification preferredPhysical Demands and Working Environment Work is performed in a standard pool environment which requires occasionally lifting such articles as file boxes, swim equipment or heavier materials with help from others, and/or lifting and carrying light objects frequently.
