Production Supervisor - 2nd Shift

Job Summary The purpose of the Production Supervisor is to supervise processes and procedures within the production department, including the operations and activities related to steel shop fabrication, production, and scheduling. The supervisor also manages the maintenance of records, quantities, and destinations of materials received or improved. Responsibilities include maintaining good morale, ensuring that safety, quality, and production policies and procedures are adhered to, maximizing profits through efficient operations, and ensuring projects are completed timely. The position also involves overall personnel supervision, including training and development of employees. Experience & Qualifications 2–4 years’ experience in structural steel shop fabrication Detail‑oriented, highly organized, self‑directed, and capable of interacting and communicating with all levels within the organization Demonstrated and proven leadership skills and ability to motivate teams Strong problem‑solving/troubleshooting experience Excellent communication, listening, and problem‑solving skills Excellent organizational skills with strong ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment Good leadership skills and ability to work in a team environment Must be able to follow deadlines and work under pressure High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience Ability to translate policies into daily routine operations ERP/MRP experience (Global Shop preferred) Successful completion of a background check, including criminal history, drug screen, physical, audiogram, and vision test Educational Requirements College degree highly preferred Must have a high school diploma, GED, or at least 24 years of equivalent experience in the field and related work area Proficiency using Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, Outlook) Understanding of Lean concepts Responsibilities Oversee the entire working operation of the production department Ensure the product being manufactured meets the company’s standards, policies, and practices Coordinate with the Production and Plant Manager to ensure manufacturing objectives are being met Supervise the work of all staff within the Production department Approve weekly time management and submit to management via the ERP system Interview department candidates Address employee relations issues, such as work complaints or other employee concerns Create and administer written warnings and submit to management Assist with employee evaluations Create a continuous‑improvement environment, teamwork, and dedication to execute the right things the first time Interact with employees and assist customers in response to concerns, questions, or complaints Recommend new equipment, methods, and facilities to the Management Team Meet production objectives by forecasting job requirements and potential barriers Establish priorities, control processes, and resolve issues to maintain efficiency Effectively plan the use of personnel, production machinery, and other resources Ensure compliance with corporate regulations pertaining to Human Resources and Safety Work to improve production processes and procedures The above statements are intended to be a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job. Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of AWS structural and seismic codes, ACSE, and AISC standards and codes; production/material specifications related to the fabrication and erection of structural steel.
