About the Role
The Company is seeking a Chief Development Officer (CDO) to lead and grow its fundraising efforts. The CDO will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy, with a focus on major and principal gifts. This includes personally managing a portfolio of donor relationships, expected to generate significant annual philanthropic revenue. The role involves working closely with the CEO, Board, and other leadership to shape long-term fundraising strategy, expand the major-gift pipeline, and ensure the organization's mission is effectively supported. The ideal candidate will have a hands-on, entrepreneurial approach to development, exceptional relationship-building and communication skills, and a deep commitment to the mission of creating welcoming and supportive communities for LGBTQ+ youth and families. Key responsibilities for the CDO at the company include establishing clear fundraising priorities, revenue targets, and performance metrics, as well as regularly analyzing results to identify opportunities and risks. The successful candidate will be expected to have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, at least 7 years' in fundraising, and a proven track record of success in major gift cultivation. Strong experience in donor stewardship, engagement, and the ability to represent the organization in various external relations is essential. The CDO will also be involved in developing high-value partnerships and engaging Board members in fundraising activities. A deep alignment with the company's mission and, preferably, knowledge of the local philanthropic community, is highly valued.
