Education Coordinator

The Education Coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating, and delivering engaging educational experiences that inspire curiosity and connect guests to Magnolia Plantation & Gardens' rich history, horticulture, nature, and preservation efforts. This role supports a variety of educational initiatives, including youth programming, school field trips, camps, daily educational offerings, serving as the volunteer liaison, and community outreach. Working closely with the Director of Education Programs, the Education Coordinator helps create meaningful experiences while building relationships with educators, community partners, families, and guests. What you will be doing: Coordinate, facilitate, and serve as the primary point of contact for educational programs for K–12 students, homeschool groups, summer camps, youth organizations, and special educational events. Assist in developing age-appropriate curriculum and hands‑on learning experiences aligned with state educational standards, when applicable. Prepare program materials, educational resources, and activity supplies. Evaluate program effectiveness and recommend enhancements to increase engagement and learning outcomes. Serves as the volunteer liaison by coordinating volunteer scheduling and assignments to support educational programs, events, and organizational initiatives. Maintain program calendars, attendance records, participant data, and reporting metrics. Assist with budget tracking, purchasing educational supplies, and maintaining inventory. Represent Magnolia at community outreach events, educational fairs, and partnership meetings. Collaborate with the Marketing team by providing program information, photos, and success stories for promotional efforts. Support grant reporting, educational metrics, and other departmental initiatives as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Who you are: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Education, Environmental Education, History, Museum Studies, Parks & Recreation, Biology, or a related field preferred. One to three years of experience coordinating educational programs, youth programming, camps, museums, parks, recreation, or similar experiences preferred. CPR and First Aid Certification, or the ability to obtain certification. Excellent organizational, time management, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Knowledge of early American history, horticulture, ecology, conservation, or archives management is a plus. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments. Physical Requirements: Physical demands are classified as medium work, requiring occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds, frequent exertion of 30 pounds, and continuous exertion of 10 pounds to move objects. Ability to climb stairs, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, reach, and grasp objects. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the property. Ability to work outdoors in varying environmental conditions, including heat, humidity, rain, uneven terrain, and seasonal weather. Availability to work occasional evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended workdays to support educational programming and special events. Key Measures of Success Include: Delivering high-quality educational programs that are engaging, safe, and mission-driven. Consistently receiving positive feedback from students, teachers, families, and guests. Growing participation in youth education programs and strengthening community partnerships. Maintaining accurate records, reporting, and administrative documentation.
